  • The Midgar Special Pack uses the base game’s inexplicably appealing gameplay loop as a foundation for players to immerse themselves into some extra Final Fantasy VII content. It’s lengthy enough, giving fans of both franchises more of what they love, be it some healthy doses of fan service or just more horrendously dirty machinery to clean up.

  • It packs a lot of useful functions onto the controller but it took us a while to figure it all out, and the tutorials are so minimal that some features barely register. It's also a shame the DualSense's capabilities are wholly ignored; this seems a perfect game for all its tricks.

  • PowerWash Simulator definitely lives up to its namesake, and while there’s something quite satisfying and calming about slowly spraying a concentrated beam of water at objects to rid them of dirt, the repetitiveness of its gameplay can’t be ignored.

  • The verdict is, PowerWash Simulator belongs on Switch. It’s not an immersive world demanding you get lost in it. You’re just enjoying beautifying playgrounds and old busses. It’s something to do with your hands. As such, if you’ve been waiting to power wash some stuff, this Switch port is a great excuse to get started.

  • If what you want in a game is a simple, relaxing cycle that doesn’t require more from a player than their time and doesn’t offer much more than the enjoyment of playing it and the satisfaction of completion, Powerwash Simulator might be perfect. Of course, it’s not for everyone, but if it hits right, you too might find yourself up late into the night, looking for that last…little…spot.

  • The desire to clean just one more object is strong. Still, it’s an acquired taste: it does simply have you undertaking menial jobs after all. But if you like stress-free games and don’t mind repetitive tasks, the reward of making things look shiny and new is considerable.

  • Powerwash Simulator has co-op mode to make things more fun and also go much faster. There’s time trials and water-limiting challenges if you want to prove something to yourself. There’s freeplay to just keep washing something you’ve already cleaned.

  • For a short session, or for a small fraction of its entire offering, PowerWash Simulator offers a zen-like experience that is like no other on the market. It’s fun to wash a car, it’s fun to wash a room, but as cars become planes, and rooms become mansions, that zen fades. The scale increases, but your output doesn’t, and a 50-hour playtime seems more like a threat than a gift, which shouldn’t be as such. What should be a neat little treat, instead turns into a debilitating feast.

  • At its best, PowerWash Simulator is a quiet, relaxing experience that's best enjoyed in small doses. It's time-consuming, yes, but once in a while, we all need something to consume our time.

  • Overall, PowerWash Simulator is one of the best casual game experiences I have ever had. It does get irritating in some places but in the end, it is a fun and relaxing experience that’s worth playing. I would recommend the game to relax or just chill and hang out with friends in co-op.
