  • Arriving eight months late on PC, everything that can be said about Monster Hunter World already has done. Rest assured though, the wait was indeed worth it. Anyone looking for a deep action game they can potentially invest hundreds of hours into need look no further. This is Monster Hunter, back and better than it's ever been before.

Capcom knocked it out of the park with Monster Hunter World. They finally brought it back to the consoles, and now all the PC players can finally enjoy it. It is one heck of a ride, and with the systems in place it can be one of the most rewarding experiences players can have. On top of all that, Capcom has already planned to bring a lot of the missions and special events to the PC version over time, and they’re all free.

  • So, the PC port of Monster Hunter World isn’t perfect. But despite its flaws, no other game compares to the thrill and sheer wonderment that beating a monster in a perfectly co-ordinated group can bring. In its purest essence, Monster Hunter World is simply about killing monsters to make better gear to kill bigger monsters. But boy, when it all comes off – which it does impressively frequently – no game comes close to it.

  • Like your character, Monster Hunter: World dresses its breathless combat in every assortment of the most arbitrarily complicated garb, all in the name of variety. It is an abyss of 'replayabilty’, an exercise in patience and observation for the ultimate payoff: an infinite black sea of invigorating dragon murder. And a new hat.

  • So, do we judge the game by its sale’s figures? Is Monster Hunter: World the best game Capcom has ever made? I don’t think so. What it is though, is a damn good time. In the event that you find yourself in possession of both a powerful desktop and $60 that just can’t wait to spend, give it a shot. For all its flaws, Monster Hunter: World is proof that a game can be more than the sum of its parts.

  • Monster Hunter: World’s PC version provides the same great hunting and gathering loops console players dove into earlier this year, and after having not played the series until now I’m absolutely hooked, both on the series and how the PC version enhances the experience. Adapting World's console control scheme to keyboard-and-mouse comes with some minor nitpicks, but I've found the tradeoffs are worth it.

  • Monster Hunter World is a solid title that will soak up a lot of time if you enjoy beautiful graphics, hunting beautiful, dangerous and unique creatures, and crafting buttloads of weapons and gear.  The learning curve is considerably more shallow than previous Monster Hunter titles but simultaneously steeper for beginners than it usually is for games in general.

  • Ever since the title was first announced, it was clear that Capcom was gunning for something grander than Monster Hunter Generations. It has succeeded, and this is likely the biggest and best that the franchise has ever been. It's not just the comparative depth of the narrative; it also boasts almost seamless integration between combat systems that were previously incomprehensible for amateurs.

Fitting for the series’ first ever western PC version, this isn’t a case of bringing flashy new exclusive content but a supremely stable, confidently-put-together package of what got all the console players so excited about in January. If it’s the first time you’ve gotten a chance to see what Monster Hunter is all about, this is as good a starting point as you’re likely to get.

  • If this were a review of just Monster Hunter World, the negatives would have little effect on the overall package. Given all the work and graphical brilliance that the PC version displays, it's a shame to have certain performance issues. Nevertheless, whether your system can handle it or Capcom offers more optimization, Monster Hunter World on PC comes recommended.
