  • Following the release of the game, Takahashi gave an interview where he described Xenoblade Chronicles 3 as a culmination. Which it is in more ways than one. On one hand, it’s the culmination of the Xenoblade Chronicles series, with plenty of nods and story beats for fans of the first two games. On the other it’s the culmination of almost 25 years of Xeno games. It takes the franchise’s story themes, concepts, and ideas and brings them to a close. And what a fantastically crafted, well-written, and genuinely mature JRPG it is.

Despite a few issues, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is a remarkable achievement that evolves the series formula in exciting ways, all the while weaving an emotionally charged story that is sure to be remembered for a long time to come. It makes a strong case not just as one of the best games of the year but as one of the best of all time.

  • It’s a robust conclusion to the JRPG franchise and spans well over a hundred hours of gameplay, leading up to a finale that long-time fans will thoroughly enjoy without leaving newer players wanting.

  • There’s no doubt about it, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is truly a masterpiece, and I’m very curious where the folks at Monolith Soft will be going next with the series.

  • Combat has never been this deep, and the characters are well-rounded and performed so well that you actually begin to care about their wellbeing while directing them through battle after battle across Aionios.

  • There’s plenty more I could bring up—good and not so good—but nothing that changes my opinion; Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is a fantastic final (?) chapter in the series. You’re perfectly justified to give up a month or two of gaming time to the struggles of Noah, Mio, and their friends.

  • Xenoblade Chronicles 3 has its flaws like any other game. However, its qualities more than make up for them, bringing a beautiful JRPG experience like none other before seen in the series. The Class system is varied and fun to experiment with, the story is one of the best in the series history, and the aesthetic and production values are incredibly high. This game offers tons of content that will keep you glued to your Nintendo Switch and last a long time.

  • While it doesn’t end as well as it starts, that doesn’t ultimately change how much I love Xenoblade Chronicles 3. With fantastic characters, deep combat, and an enormous world to explore, it was more than worth pushing through those final hours to see the ending to one of my favorite RPGs in years.

  • Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is a gripping, powerful story told well with a unique world and compelling characters. The combat, once it fully introduces everything, is also packed with depth and complexity.

  • Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is a game that almost suffers from its own perfection — every individual idea really is a perfect combo of the lessons learned from Xenoblade 1 and 2. But together, it can’t quite maintain a consistent quality. These are some of the highest highs the series has ever given me, but the occasional lows make for a game that’s only ever so slightly flawed to perfectly work.
