The God of War universe dropping Greek Mythology in favor of Norse Mythology is a welcome change for me but along with this switching of setting came a change up in genre which was far less welcome. I'm not gonna pretend that throwing my axe at enemies and calling for it back over and over wasn't satisfying on some level but I still much prefer how the old God of War games controlled. But while the gameplay was a step down for me the story was a massive step up as I have never cared for Kratos or any other character in the franchise as much as i did here. Atreus can be annoying at times and some of his actions are obvious plot devices but he is still a complex character that I wanna keep an eye on and I'm definitely excited to see where this franchise goes when I finally play God of War Ragnarok.
