- I started Everspace 2 deeply unsure about a space looter shooter. Tens of hours later I don’t want to play anything else. Everspace 2 is a towering achievement of space-based thrills and spills. It absolutely deserves your attention.

The controls were near-perfect, switching out equipped weapons was no problem, and there were four different difficulty settings. With how comprehensive and fluid the overall game is, it would be a surprise to see the game’s rating be anything but positive.

Coupled with loadout and equipment systems that boast a bevy of armaments for build possibilities, good controls, and a beautiful world, Everspace 2 has some good things going for it. And those that have played in Early Access or taken to the cockpit in the game's predecessor will find plenty to love.

It looks, runs, and sounds great. In all my time with the game, I didn’t run into any bugs graphical or otherwise. Controls were tight, and the minute-to-minute gameplay just feels great and smooth.

With an incredible story, brilliant visuals and sound design, this game is very close to being a masterpiece. The only letdown is that travel in general seems slow for a game that’s supposed to be fast-paced, only time will tell if that changes or stays the same.

Of course, there is a generous auto-aim on many available weapons, but the sheer number of obstacles in any fight makes that feel like a necessity rather than a handicap.

Once you get into the rhythm of traveling from map to map and clearing all of the objectives, it’s alarmingly easy to lose track of time.

There's a stronger sense of place, better story, and more interesting cast that feel like they fulfill the original game's potential. Exploration is better than ever, and while combat hasn't changed too much, the careful balancing act of managing your resources makes every encounter feel fresh and exciting.
