- Almost two years after its PlayStation 4 debut, developer Quantic Dream has brought Detroit: Become Human to the PC via the Epic Games Store. With beautiful graphics and a complex branching story line, be prepared to make tough choices as you live the life of three androids as they shape the events of the days prior to the android uprising.
Mitchell Gassner · Jan 06, 2020 Reviewed on PCRead full review - In the end, even though I experienced some technical issues due to my PC's CPU, I thoroughly enjoyed my time with Detroit: Become Human, and after only little fiddling in the settings, I managed to find an acceptable compromise for great gaming sessions. Thanks to the brilliant presentation on all fronts and enthralling narrative, I stopped noticing the few hiccups here and there and lost myself in a not-so-futuristic tale of very personal stakes and development.
Arne Cito · Dec 24, 2019 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Detroit: Become Human is inarguably Quantic Dream’s finest release yet, but it’s not really fair to say that it’s any better on PC. It still looks great, and players with powerful computers will appreciate the extra bump to resolution and overall framerate. But the heart of the experience—the story with such obvious overtones that it borders on satire—remains unchanged, for better or for worse.
Kevin Tucker · Dec 20, 2019 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Occasionally fun but often unconscientious, Detroit: Beyond Human takes steps in the right direction but retains too much of the old Quantic dream formula.
Malindy Hetfeld · Dec 17, 2019 Reviewed on PCRead full review - That’s not to say there’s nothing to get out of Detroit: Become Human. At a superficial level it looks fantastic, your choices can often feel hefty and impactful, and the overall presentation value is comfortably in the very top tier of adventure games. But it is a game you may have to enjoy through gritted teeth; either raging or outright laughing at the clunky metaphors and hamfisted messages. Enjoy it I did though, honestly, even if it wasn't perhaps for the reasons Cage may have been hoping for.
Jon Sutton · Dec 12, 2019 Reviewed on PCRead full review - The main thing with a game from Quantic Dream, is it doesn’t matter how I review it nor the number I use for its final score. If you don’t like cinematic narrative driven games, you won’t like Detroit. If you don’t like “David Cage” directed games, you won’t like Detroit. If you didn’t like Heavy Rain or Beyond: Two Souls, you won’t like Detroit. But if you enjoy any of these, then Detroit: Become Human really is something special. If you enjoy thought provoking narrative gameplay then I wholeheartedly think Detroit: Become Human will resonate with you. If you are able to resist your programming that every game needs to be a third person shooter or come bundled with multiplayer and loot crates, then welcome to the revolution.
Todd Eggleston · Jun 05, 2018 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - This is the first release from Quantic Dream that I've become fully immersed in, and I cannot wait to return to the gritty streets of 2038 Detroit to make alternate decisions.
Kieran McLoone · Jun 04, 2018 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - In theory, the game is replayable – on my initial playthrough, Kara's ending was rather grim – but faced with wading through its middling mechanics and patchy, often superficial story, I'm in no hurry to make a return trip to Detroit.
Chris Mc · May 29, 2018 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - Despite its minor flaws and gameplay limitations, it creates emotionally charged moments that will resonate with a number of its audience. This is a game where the biggest enemy you’ll face is your own indecision or rash judgment, it crafts an experience that exerts a level of tension and responsibility on its audience we rarely see. Not at all decisions are created equally, but they’ll all hit hard just the same.
Miles T · May 28, 2018 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - Detroit: Become Human offers a lot of narrative choices and the ability to personalize the story to your desires. The diverse cast, excellent voice-acting, and fantastic soundtrack help immerse the player into an actual Android Revolution where you decide the fate of this species. It's unfortunate that the gameplay and movement issues hold back much of the Detroit: Become Human's synergy.
