- With out-of-this-world anime production values and a revamped structure that brings a better pace to the overall experience, Zenless Zone Zero is only going from strength to strength. With the introduction of its new district – featuring a pretty fun tycoon management-style minigame – and ever-increasing stakes, the coming year looks bright for HoYoverse’s hyper-cool urban outing.

But, assessing it for what it is, it's a great one of those games that offers something different from this new wave of gachas that reward dedicated play as much (if not more) than those with deep pockets.

While the early game’s story is slow going and the usual free-to-play progression blocks can be irksome, what’s here in Version 1.0 is an excellent springboard for future content.

Et c'est bien vrai pour Zenless Zone Zero qui fait très fort pour son univers - certes un peu difficile à appréhender parfois - mais tout à fait original et intrigant. La narration suit bien les standard du Cyberpunk et l'enrobage y ajoute un peu de fraicheur et de naiveté, ce qui nous pousse à en savoir plus. Unity nous dévoile ce mélange unique d'inspirations avec précision et MiHoYo sait en tirer le max pour les (un peu trop rares) cinématiques. Il faut aller chercher la difficulté et des pans entiers de la proposition doivent encore être étoffés, mais ce premier long contact avec un jeu qui est là pour durer s'avère agréable, fun et dynamique. Attention à vos sous, on n'a pas ressenti le besoin écrasant de payer pour progresser, mais obtenir de nouveaux personnages charismatiques et les choyer est terriblement séduisant, à en ouvrir le portefeuille...

When it comes to Gacha games, this is by far the best one that I've played, as it feels accessible without having to purchase anything. Zenless Zone Zero stands out of the crowd from miHoYo's other IPs, and I look forward to seeing where this game will go in the future and what new features will be added to the game over time.

In some ways this is a strange beast: artistically it’s all over the place, pulling from a litany of different sources and somehow stringing them all together into a cohesive, compelling whole. But at its heart it’s a character action game with a massive emphasis on team-building, and it’s a bloody good one at that.

The fantastic combat can often get hampered by the pacing of story, and the mismatched feel of the world inside the Hollow and the slow-paced life outside of it. There are a lot of great game modes, some unique characters to collect, an enticing story and a fun arcade diversion that updates some retro classics. It’s obvious from the quality this is a Hoyoverse game. For the introductory price of free this is well worth your time, maybe even more than other Hoyoverse titles that require a higher cost investment. However, Zenless Zone Zero feels like it’s a Hoyoverse game that needs a little more time finding itself.
