- Battles are beautifully meaty. Every haymaker to the kidneys and roundhouse kick to some poor bastard’s backside Kaz breaks out carries real impact. The system is pretty in-depth, too. You can dodge, parry, throw and even use x-rated context-sensitive finishers that usually involve introducing men's spines to pristine Japanese concrete.
Dave Meikleham · Jun 24, 2012 Reviewed on PS3Read full review - Yakuza 3 is an astounding success in bringing the Japanese culture over in a great package of emotions and raw combat. Everything from the presentation to the combat is well done in this fight to the death. You can easily spend 13+ hours on the story alone without even diving into the mini games, battle arena, and side missions. Yakuza 3 will pull you into the fight and won’t let you out until you’re black and blue from head to toe.
Cameron Teague · Mar 19, 2010 Reviewed on PS3Read full review - Fans who have followed Kazuma through the previous installments should enjoy watching him return to mob life to protect his orphanage. Yakuza 3 carves its own identity and characters, making it more than just “Grand Theft Auto in Japan.” If you don’t feel a strong connection with the story, however, the dated gameplay mechanics and lack of polish do a fine job of sapping most of the enjoyment you could potentially receive.
Dan Ryckert · Mar 19, 2010 Reviewed on PS3 - Yakuza 3 is a strange beast. It is a convoluted blend of opposites and contradictions - brutal and sometimes even thought-provoking maturity sits alongside the kind of over-the-top silliness that wouldn't be out of place in a badly dubbed kung-fu flick, whilst top quality production values and cutscenes walk hand-in-hand with archaic video game mechanics and design ideas, but despite all the dichotomies at work in this game (or possibly even because of them)... it works.
Michael O'Connor · Mar 19, 2010 Reviewed on PS3Read full review - Yakuza 3 combines visual splendour with superb sound design to create an unparalleled atmosphere. Although the dated combat might take a back seat to these environments, Yakuza's first outing on the PlayStation 3 feels suitably next generation. While the first two titles in the series were both overlooked and underrated, Yakuza 3 demands to be taken notice of. This isn't only the best game in the series, but possibly the genre as a whole.
Jamin Smith · Mar 18, 2010 Reviewed on PS3Read full review - It's essentially the variety of Yakuza 3's world that make it so engaging. The relatively small open-world environment is literally teeming with side-missions and mini-games, all of which complement the soap opera-esque plot driving the adventure.
Sammy Barker · Mar 17, 2010 Reviewed on PS3Read full review - Don't let the fact that you haven't previously tackled a title from the Yakuza franchise put you off picking up this game. While the learning curve for the story starts off a little steep, by the end of the ludicrous, action-packed storyline, everything falls into place and you have formed genuine connections with endearing characters. Yakuza 3's detailed and living environments, engaging story, and abundance of extra things to see and do make it an entertaining ride and a great addition to your brawler collection.
Dan Chiappini · Mar 11, 2010 Reviewed on PS3Read full review - Yakuza 3 brings together enough different gameplay styles that it's more or less pointless to assign it to one particular genre. It's the way it combines these individual parts and invests you in its world that really matters. Brutal fighting carried out by a character that constantly grows more powerful, a solid story that succeeds in involving you despite sentimentality and silliness, and exceptionally well-realized environments make Yakuza 3 a powerful experience that simply could not exist outside of videogames.
Game Trailers · Mar 10, 2010 Reviewed on PS3 - The game is rough around the edges, it has issues when it comes to pacing and repetition, the Japanese-only voice track will turn some people off, and it does look like a game that's been out awhile -- but all of these issues are just bumps in the road on what should be an enjoyable ride for folks looking to beat in some faces and wander the streets of Japan.
GREG MILLER · Mar 09, 2010 Reviewed on PS3Read full review - Yakuza 3 stirred up a lot of controversy when it was announced that it would be removing some content from the Japanese version, but it’s a small drop in an ocean of included content. It may not be the most gorgeous game ever, but it’s pleasing to look at. There is also an interesting story to be found here, and the combat is fun, if not incredibly deep. There’s just so much fun content included in this game, it’s hard not to recommend this as a must-own for action and RPG fans, despite the exclusions.

About the game
Trailers & Screenshots:
Following the events of the previous game, Kazuma and Haruka (his adopted daughter) have left Kamurochoto to seek a new life in Okinawa where they manage an orphanage for children. However, their peaceful life is soon interrupted when a series of events unfold pulling Kazuma back into the shadowy past he thought he had left behind. Making its first appearance exclusively on the PlayStation 3 platform, the rich story and vibrant world of Yakuza 3 lets players engage in intense brutal clashes within the streets of Okinawa, and the pulsating and often dangerous city of Tokyo where only the strongest will survive.
