  • This game is not only an absolute pleasure to play, and a must have for anyone with a New Nintendo 3DS, it is a technical marvel for Nintendo. Xenoblade Chronicles 3D is a system-seller, and if you've had a 3DS for a couple of years and are thanking of moving up to the new model, this title is a huge motivator.

It’s great to see a release on another console to give new players a chance to experience it, granted you still need to own the new handheld. I feel nothing major is lost in the port to the smaller screen and in doing so, you now have one of the best RPGS ever made literally at your fingertips on the go. It doesn’t get much better than that.

  • In the end, I can’t tell you how to spend your money, but what I can tell you is that for somebody who hasn’t already played Xenoblade Chronicles and just happens to have the New 3DS, or the money to buy one, it’s pretty much a must have, and for those wanting to play again, if you are without Nintendo’s newest handheld and really want to play the “portable” version, take a look in your wallet and think “can I afford what it will cost to play this game once again?”

  • The world itself is huge, and thankfully explorable with fast-travel once you've unlocked landmarks. Xenoblade has a lot of beautiful things to look at in terms of its environments, that same care doesn't seem to be present in its cast. Designs often appear muddy and muted, especially when it comes to character faces. ...I could go on for hours about the finer details of Xenoblade, but I won’t. It's an impressive game in terms of depth and sheer scope.

  • Although muted, Xenoblade Chronicles 3D delivers mostly the same experience that playing the original Wii release would, with the small details suffering the most in transition. If you simply must play this version, it's a worthy port but playing the original release is the better option.

  • Xenoblade Chronicles was an incredible experience on Wii and it has transitioned beautifully onto New 3DS. Some compression concessions were made in the process, but the underlying quality of the narrative, setting and mechanics ultimately mean the cosmetic blemishes make little difference. Once again cementing its status as a JRPG masterpiece, Xenoblade Chronicles 3D is a game you owe it to yourself to experience.

  • Xenoblade Chronicles is an above-average RPG hamstrung by a really bad port. From the muddy visuals to the barebones interface, it's hardly a visual showcase for the New 3DS. It has merit, and its best qualities still manage to shine through on the small screen, but it's definitely not the optimal way to enjoy one of the more celebrated RPGs of the last generation.

  • Xenoblade Chronicles for the Wii was a critical success and a fan favorite for that console generation. This adaptation does a great job of importing that experience to the 3DS but does not do a lot to add to the original experience. If you have already played this on the Wii there won’t be much that attracts you to this version unless you just want a portable copy.

  • Even those who have played through Shulk's big adventure before will love experiencing it again in Xenoblade Chronicles 3D. The game survives the console-to-portable transition amazingly well, with only a few minor graphical imperfections to speak of. The story is still gripping, the characters still enjoyable, and the gameplay still a gold standard in the RPG realm.

  • The game is still as great as it always ways, and despite the graphical downstep, it’s no less enjoyable on a smaller screen. I relished the excuse to play it once more, and have been having a blast as I once again alter futures, smash up robots, and indulge in a little private Reyn time. It’s Reyn time! I’m powering up! Who else wants some? I’m really feeling it! I’m really feeling it! I’m really feeling it!
