  • The world itself is lovely. It's a Final Fantasy toyland that makes you feel like you're comically stomping around a model village, cooing over how cute everything is.

  • Much of this review probably sounds negative, and that's a shame because World Of Final Fantasy is a fantastic throwback to earlier entries in the series and a damn good RPG in its own right. If you are ok with a 30 FPS cap and an experience that's the same as the PS4 version, then this PC port is perfectly playable. I've yet to encounter any technical bugs in my time with it and the art style makes up for the lack of graphical options in my opinion, just know going in that the port is lacking in several ways.

  • World of Final Fantasy is a love-letter to the entire Final Fantasy franchise and its diehard fans. This is pure uncut Final Fantasy directly injected into your veins. Newcomers to the franchise will find an accessible battle system to work with but a completely convoluted and, frankly, bad story to deal with. The soundtrack is worth sticking around for, though.

  • That's World of Final Fantasy in a nutshell. For those invested in the series up to this point, it's so worth playing. It'll mean a lot to the fans to go on an adventure, fight, and grow with the monsters that were only ever enemies in the past. Its weak story detracts from the experience a little, but the power of well-done nostalgia farming overshadows it easily.

  • A fun distraction from the mainline Final Fantasy games, and a pretty good project to have installed on your Vita: this is a game you’re going to want to digest in small pieces. World of Final Fantasy is so sickeningly cute and twee that it sometimes comes off as unbearable (thanks to the main characters) but when you get past that, there is a compelling and intelligent battle system waiting for you. If you’re a die-hard Final Fantasy fan and can put the time into this game, you’re going to get a lot out of it.

  • In a fall where the Final Fantasy related news on everyone’s mind is how the ten-year-in-development Final Fantasy XV will turn out, World of Final Fantasy is comfort food for any traditional JRPG fans. What it lacks in some key aspects, it makes up for by leaps and bounds in the design and charm put into its nostalgia-tinged landmarks and characters. World of Final Fantasy isn’t going to be the Final Fantasy related experience people remember from 2016, but it’s a fine ode to the classics that have been with us for almost 30 years.

  • World of Final Fantasy rightly represents the series' 30 years of history, with a classic JRPG gameplay experience modernized by an excellent presentation, very good writing and several well-crafted gameplay mechanics. As the simple dungeon layouts and low difficulty level suggest, the game is mostly aimed towards a younger, less experienced audience, but veterans of the Final Fantasy series shouldn't be put off by this, as the well-implemented fan service more than makes up for it. Highly recommended to all JRPG enthusiasts.

  • I don’t know exactly how the idea to create World of Final Fantasy came about in the halls of Square Enix, but it’s a game that could have been so much better had it been given different focus. As it is, it’s a relatively enjoyable RPG that offers up some legitimately enjoyable moments while simultaneously causing you to sit in bewilderment at what you’re experiencing.

  • World of Final Fantasy is a strong JRPG, and is a delight for fans of the franchise with cameos and callbacks at every turn. But newcomers may find it hard to get stuck in when the story does everything it can to turn you away.

  • World of Final Fantasy wants to be fan service for everybody, an almost impossible task in such a long-running, varied franchise. In that regard, the game may look like lighthearted filler on the surface. But those shimmers of something greater and World of Final Fantasy’s more original, modern elements are worthwhile, even if they don't quite make up for the hours of annoyances that pay lip service to nostalgia.
