- Weird West is a game that players can grow to love, provided you can forgive some of its issues and design decisions. The idea of going through five different protagonists with somewhat connected stories is fascinating, but the resetting of items and skills when changing characters doesn't contribute to the desire to explore. The lands don't vary much given the setting, but the changes based on your actions are fun to see. The combat is fine, but the enemy behavior can sometimes be laughable, while the presentation teeters between amazing and average.
Cody Medellin · Jul 06, 2022 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Weird West is a creative game full of neat ideas that just didn't quite come together in the end.
Bryan Vitale · May 08, 2022 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Weird West offers up a world of intrigue with a terrific blend of classic Western fiction and supernatural elements, with a lot of enjoyable story bits and and a world that can change on a whim, but it’s one whose awkward combat and bugs make for a bit of an uphill battle when it comes to truly enjoying this world.
Kyle LeClair · Apr 12, 2022 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Weird West is a gem of a game with a dark, well-crafted world and an intriguing story featuring choices that carry actual weight. It's not perfect – no indie game is – and I've experienced my fair share of bugs while playing it (nothing game-breaking, though).
Ingvi Sndal · Apr 11, 2022 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Lastly, a note on performance. I’m pleased to say that Weird West ran extremely well on my PS5, with very few bugs to speak of. In fact, the only bug I noticed from time to time was NPCs getting stuck on terrain, resulting in them doing a bit of a jig. Furthermore, the game ran at an incredibly smooth 60 FPS with few visible frame drops. The only time the game faltered was a very brief stutter when a quest objective was updated.
Kristian Longden · Apr 11, 2022 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - Weird West remains the best option for an immersive RPG. Minor technical flaws are forgiven due to the vastness and generosity of the game. Weird West is a fantastic journey full of exciting fighting and thrill.
Rayan · Apr 09, 2022 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Weird West is now one of my top Devolver Digital games. This action RPG set on a fun and strange spaghetti western stage provides an engaging story the brings all the chapters together nicely albeit through some repetitious gameplay loops to ultimately build a universe I hope we get to explore more of someday.
Corey Lyle · Apr 07, 2022 Reviewed on Series X|SRead full review - An original, imaginative dark western fantasy world with impressive immersive sim elements let down by some sloppy chaotic combat and interchangeable supporting cast.
Tyler Chancey · Apr 02, 2022 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - Weird West has a great set of gameplay mechanics that don’t always deliver the best experience. The five-character stories have great moments, although the side-quests are often more engaging. You can take down an important enemy in three ways or more, but the chaotic aftermath might be impossible to handle.
Cosmin Vasile · Apr 01, 2022 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Weird West isn't a perfect game, but it has so many fascinating elements that it's definitely worth playing for fans of classic isometric-style RPGs. It would have been nice to see it lean more into those PC gaming roots with its control and user interface, but the world itself, from the characters to the physics and the chemistry, is great.
