- We Happy Few is a fantastic game but is not without its flaws. The combat and stealth leave you wanting that little bit more. Stealth, combat and crafting have a lot of potential but are implemented very minimalistically. The game manages to save itself through the delivery of an incredibly unique and almost magical world that will quickly make you forget about the shortcomings. From the spooky Bobbies to the drugged up citizens.
Dan Hastings · Aug 12, 2019 Reviewed on PC, PS4, XB1Read full review - I am so incredibly disappointed with We Happy Few. I wanted so, SO much to enjoy it but I can’t even bring myself to play through the other two characters’ campaigns. The game as a whole is not horrible, don’t get me wrong. There are some genuinely great moments, but with a $60 (AAA game price tag) and $20 Season Pass, I expected a lot more than this. This feels more like a $30 game to be completely honest. It makes me wonder why and how it was released in the state it is in. I wouldn’t recommend buying this game unless it is on a really good sale or when, and if, they issue a huge patch to fix all the glitches and crashes that make We Happy Few so disappointing to play.

Tom Baines · Aug 29, 2018 Reviewed on PCRead full review - There’s no doubt a ton of positive elements to We Happy Few, but it seems like a fantastic world clouded over by overzealousness on the part of Compulsion Games. While they should be lauded for their hand in crafting a world that I wanted to dissect every inch of, too much of the game feels like filler for its own good. Perhaps with a little Joy, We Happy Few could be more palatable to modern audiences.
Lou Contaldi · Aug 27, 2018 Reviewed on PCRead full review - While We Happy Few's story contains some genuinely wonderful twists and turns once it gets going, it's dragged down by frustrating survival systems, shoddy combat, and an empty world.
Colm Ahern · Aug 20, 2018 Reviewed on PCRead full review - We Happy Few isn’t bad per se, but it’s a very near miss, as the game comes right up to the brink of collapsing in upon itself from its many missteps. The game offers such an intriguing backdrop for its world, and really grand art, that whenever it's more focused and non-procedural, it’s a grand old time.
Graham Banas · Aug 16, 2018 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - We Happy Few is a case of quantity over quality. A by-the-numbers venture whose game world seems to have been populated by a script rather than being handcrafted. Despite moments of what could only be described as brilliance, We Happy Few is full of fetch quests, boring busy-work and some of the most baffling design decisions in the history of video games. Oh, and it’s broken as shit too. Happy? Not really, no.
Dan Webb · Aug 16, 2018 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - It’s hard to criticize a game that offers so much originality, humor and satirical atmosphere. We Happy Few, unfortunately, lets its narrative and characters get bogged down in a desperate and, at times, tedious struggle to survive the game’s brutal environment. Venturing down its psychedelic rabbit-hole will yield rewarding narrative answers, but the other gameplay elements will at times wear you down like a volley of billy-clubs.
Patrick Anderson · Aug 13, 2018 Reviewed on PCRead full review - I cannot in good conscience encourage anyone to purchase the game in its current state. It would be best to revisit the game in a few months to see if things have improved. Now if you will excuse me, I have to pop a pill and pray to God that my entire memory of this game will just go away.
Blake Grundman · Aug 13, 2018 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - Compulsion Games transformed its randomly-generated, survival game into the dystopian narrative everyone asked for, but those randomized elements are still holding We Happy Few back from reaching its full potential. The twisted tale of a society addicted to its own Joy is lost underneath an endless hunt for bobby pins and scraps of cloth.
