  • If you were expecting Watch Dogs to take the genre in new directions then you’re going to be sorely disappointed. With that being said, Watch Dogs is still an engaging and often times surprising action game. The hacking component doesn’t offer a lot of depth despite it being such a big theme in the game, but there are plenty of moments where it adds a refreshing spin on a few of those same old, open-world tropes.

Watch_Dogs borrows game play elements from GTA, inFamous and Assassin’s Creed (among others), adds a hacking dynamic and pulls it all together into a great game. Despite some standout visuals though there’s nothing here that feels like a leap forward in gaming, and I can’t imagine the core game feeling much different had I played a last-gen version.

  • Watch Dogs is brimming with content and unlike Infamous: Second Son _, it will keep you occupied for a long, long time. It took me days of solid game playing to complete the main campaign and I have barely touched on the myriad of extra missions the Chicago offers. If you’re looking for value for money, _Watch Dogs is a must-have!

  • Watch Dogs was probably never going to be the ground-breaking “next-gen” experience many had envisioned back in 2012. It’s hardly run-of-the-mill but at the same time only makes a few genuine attempts to break the mould. However, in these areas – such as the online multiplayer – there are genuine glimmers of innovation worthy of merit, and if you look anywhere else, players will still find an open-world game backed by a unique premise and solid core gameplay.

  • The game clearly isn’t without its problems and it is unfortunate that these problems are easier to point out than its successes. Watch Dogs really only does one thing well, but it is consistent with this. It lacks a lot of what you want from this type of game, but the campaign provides you with enough thrills to warrant a purchase. It’s a good start to a franchise, but it has a lot of problems that would need ironing out in a potential sequel. Watch Dogs will give you a lot of enjoyment, for a while, but its not an experience that will stick with you and its certainly not without its flaws.

  • Watch Dogs isn't a hack job, but it isn't the next-gen revolution that many were expecting either. It's a game largely made up of mediocre bits and pieces, but is elevated far beyond the sum of its parts by its brilliantly dynamic sandbox and often gripping mission design. ...it's those unpredictable and sometimes spectacular moments of vigilante justice that will keep you connected to Ubisoft's latest open world.

  • Watch Dogs might be a victim of its own hype, because despite two years and of trying to convince players that this was the next generation of the open world game, plus that big delay from its original September 2013 release date, the title we’re left with is much more of the same than it is something different. That doesn’t mean it isn’t fun to play; just as other open world games can be enjoyable, lengthy endeavors, so can Watch Dogs.

  • Watch Dogs combines an astonishingly detailed world, a gripping storyline, creative game mechanics, a myriad of missions and activities, and improvisational tactical sandbox gameplay to create a truly next-generation open world game. Phenomenal. No other word for it.

  • Regardless of price point I guarantee you will get full value for your dollar with this game. I struggled to find any significant faults. Watch Dogs gets about as close to a perfect score that I’m comfortable giving. If you are on the fence about this game, don’t be. This is the game that makes spending that hard earned money on a next-generation console worth it.
