- Warhammer: Chaosbane has the potential to be a top tier action RPG in the likes of Diablo, Torchlight, and Grim Dawn, but as it stands now, it is a fun 10 hours with the endgame content being watered down. Now, developers EKO Software has stated that their plans are to support this game throughout the rest of the year with updates and new additions, of course, only time will tell on that. Currently, almost a month after release, the newest patch that hit the PC version is still waiting approval for the consoles, so that’s been fun.
Drew Leachman · Jul 17, 2019 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - I have done my best to avoid the inevitable comparisons to the genre-defining Diablo series, as, thanks to the developer staying true to the license, Warhammer: Chaosbane manages to stand apart and succeed in forging an identity of its own. Still, it's hard to ignore the regrettable fumbles and clear shortcomings that detract from the experience, even though I hope that the post-release updates will make some headway to address those in time.
Alex Seedhouse · Jun 29, 2019 Reviewed onRead full review - While a good Hack and Slash is hard to find these last few years, Warhammer Chaosbane PS4, PC, and Xbox One give their players tons of content, exciting action, and most importantly endless repeatability. The most important thing about an H&S game is re-playability, naturally. It looks great, the models are nicely rendered, and the animations and abilities will do enough to impress anyone. All in all, it is a fun game and recommended to all owners of the mentioned platforms.
Alec Sandar · Jun 24, 2019 Reviewed onRead full review - Although Warhammer: Chaosbane still feels like a Diablo clone, the game is rather unique in terms of gameplay and skill progression and also very beautifully designed. We enjoyed our time playing the game and discovering all its different mechanics. Also, it is one of the better games in the Warhammer-series. Fully voice-acted, a dark mood, amazing graphics, beautiful artwork and wonderful gameplay. If you are into the hack and slash genre or a fan of the Diablo-series, this game is an absolute must-have for your collection.
Spyro · Jun 21, 2019 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Warhammer: Chaosbane isn't noteworthy. If you're a fan of the franchise, it might meet your need for Diablo-style beat-'em-up action. If you're not, there's little to recommend it over the horde of other available games, especially since this is selling at full price. Like Diablo III, perhaps Chaosbane can eventually update enough to fix its mistakes, but until then, it's a game for Warhammer faithfuls only.
Chris "Atom" DeAngelus · Jun 20, 2019 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - In many ways, the game has budget title sentiments to it when it resorts to simple narration and recycling assets but still it’s sold for a full price. That’s a fact, in addition to the lackluster performance of the online game, that drops Warhammer: Chaosbane from an essential purchase it would definitely have been as a mid-price title. Wait for a sale and you’re probably happier with what you get.
Jukka Piira · Jun 18, 2019 Reviewed on XB1 - Good but not exceptional, Warhammer: Chaosbane is a solid and confident slice of medieval melee action. As Gothic as it is repetitive in the endgame phase, itâs still an enjoyable romp in the same vein as many an action RPG from yesteryear.
Darryn Bonthuys · Jun 11, 2019 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - Whilst not quite as deep, varied, or refined as its widely acclaimed contemporaries, Warhammer: Chaosbane still manages to serve up a solid ARPG that packs quite a punch. The game plays well, looks good, and sports heaps of replay value across the board. Despite the odd issue with its combat diversity and its poor voice work, fans of both the genre and the source material will no doubt thoroughly enjoy what’s on offer.
Anthony Cole · Jun 08, 2019 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - I’d by lying if I said that I haven’t been having some fun with Warhammer: Chaosbane, though it’s far from being a great game. The lack of enemy and level variety makes it feel like a slog at times, and the drip-feed of new features while failing to explain them is irritating. But the hard-hitting action and addictive character development go some way to make up for its issues. It’s enjoyable killing screens full of enemies like an unstoppable machine, then scouring the floor for loot that might just possibly make you even more powerful.
Richard Seagrave · Jun 07, 2019 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - Fun combat and great co-op do their best to mitigate the shortcomings Chaosbane has with its serious lack of variety.
