- Visage is a magnificent horror story bundled up in separated chapters. This combined with stunning audio and visual effects with a randomizer, make the game unpredictable and truly scary, even for the most prepared among the players. The game would probably have a tremendous amount of fame if it already had a VR-version, which will definitely make people scream for their lives in their living room. What really felt like a big setback were the game’s controls as they are not intuitive enough or the studio hasn’t invested enough time into them.
Khorodax · Dec 30, 2020 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Visage drapes over you like some ghastly blanket, smothering you with unsettling ambiance and high-quality scares. Though it fumbles a certain stretch of gameplay, its otherwise meticulously designed structure, head-scratching puzzles, and creative manipulation of level design more than pick up any slack.
Kevin Lynn · Dec 16, 2020 Reviewed onRead full review - Visage isn’t just a simple a PT clone, but an evolution of that concept. Its scope is significantly bigger and it doesn’t feel like it’s just trying to copy it, as it clearly tries to implements its own ideas and become its own thing. Visage is a homage to countless survival horror games and movies that came before and it’s utterly terrifying and challenging.
Kyle Nicol · Dec 04, 2020 Reviewed on PCRead full review - I never thought walking down a hallway in a game could fill me with such dread, but every single staircase, hallway, and door ramped my anxiety all the way up. In all honesty, for the first couple of days, I could only play it for 10 minutes at a time before I had to call it quits. As someone who watches horror movies all the time, getting me to tap out before you even scare is a feat to be proud of. By that measure, Visage should be bursting with pride!
Doug Mercer · Nov 30, 2020 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - Although quirky, Visage is a thrill to play as the random events can change your experience with the game each playthrough, but playing it more than once will remove most of the thrill by knowing the jump scares and harder puzzles. I hope SadSquare studio continues to add to this title, as it can benefit from it, and it deserves to be played by the horror genre fans.
Ross Hodge · Nov 27, 2020 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - It might never completely shed its inspiration, but it spins it in enough clever (and unsettling) ways to keep you hooked. If you’re a fan of horror, you won’t regret stepping into Visage‘s suburban haunted house – even if your character might.
Chris Mc · Nov 20, 2020 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - Visage isn’t going to be for every horror fan. It’s slower pace, difficult puzzles and lack of direction are going to make many struggle, but that’s also kind of the point. For every moment where I didn’t know what to do and felt like I was on a wild goose chase, there was another moment of gratification for finally figuring it out. Throughout all of those moments, I was scared and that’s indicative that even if I didn’t, Visage knows what it’s doing.
George Foster · Nov 18, 2020 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - Visage is one of the most terrifying games I’ve ever played, full stop, but it’s not going to be for all horror fans. The game’s perplexing puzzles, convoluted story, and rough edges will turn off some, but if you can stick it out, there’s a good chance it will eventually sink its hooks into you. Good horror can take time to process, and I believe Visage’s dark presence will only grow with time.
Nathan Birch · Nov 10, 2020 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Visage creates a palpable playground for fans of horror to revel in, tapping into different flavors of fear to create an unsettling experience. All too often, genre titles fall back on repetitive jump scares and shock value, but Visage lets the house burn into your brain and leaves you questioning every decision to open a door or descend a staircase.
Daniel Tack · Nov 03, 2020 Reviewed on PC - Visage is close to being of the best horror games of recent years, but it's held back by some annoying aspects. The inventory controls are awkward, there were still a few bugs that prevented me from interacting with the environment, and the chapters are far too uneven, with the third being particularly bad.
