  • Vessel is a lot like Portal. It’s a title that introduces a new kind of puzzle solving gameplay coupled with thoughtful, varied levels, an appealing setting with commendable graphics, realistic sound effects, and a great mix of electronica and ambient songs. While a few technical issues hold back the game’s waterfall of brilliance like a small dam, you still won’t want to miss out on the creativity streaming from this pretty pitcher.

There aren’t gobs of money behind Vessel. It's independent, and the journey isn't always smooth. But cookie-cutter it is not, nor is it garish or sexist or silly or mindless. If you are a patient person who appreciates grey matter workouts and "Eureka" moments, and if you are willing to forgive imperfections, check it out. Gaming needs titles and developers like this.

  • But if Vessel's action is sometimes shabby and erratic, at least the fluid simulation is a real novelty for this genre. Every now and again, those dynamic elements come together to deliver a solution that rivals the “Eureka!” moment of any other puzzler. Despite its occasional chaos and fussy foibles, Vessel's central gimmick just about holds water.

  • I like Vessel, but sometimes frustration sat side by side with amusement. The liquid physics on display are impressive, but when they get in the way of otherwise enjoyable gameplay, I’d prefer simplicity over a strict physics simulation. Nonetheless, Vessel has a remarkable style all its own, and your patience is rewarded with a delightful and lengthy adventure.

  • With roughly ten hours of gameplay and little to no filler content, Vessel is a great value. Its main selling point, fluid physics-based mechanics, is also the source of its minor failings. For those not too fatigued with puzzle platformers, it is a solid title oozing with atmosphere and intelligent puzzle design.

  • Mature pacing and borderline clumsy controls can be a difficult combination, but the visuals, music and brain-bending challenges make for a really satisfying overall experience. Puzzle gamers and fans of challenging indie fair will eat it up, but for average gamers it’s absolutely accessible, just be prepared to chip away at it, not breeze through. Vessel is the perfect Rubix cube to pick up in-between rounds of Horde Mode or long grinds. Grab the demo from the game's steam page, its well worth a look.

  • Just like Portal 2, Vessel is about a universally recommended game as can exist. It’s charming, entertaining, stimulating, and a hell of an experience for the price point. While the fuzzy platforming can be a little annoying, it’s a relatively small fly in a ton of awesome ointment. If you enjoy learning or accomplishing, this is the game for you.

  • Vessel is a game that anyone who enjoys quality will find immense value in. The beautiful and organic looking hand drawn 2D backgrounds are stunning to look at, and the gameplay is top notch throughout.
