  • GREAT While Valheim hasn't quite solved the problems of Mistlands and Ashlands, the 1.0 release still manages to be the best version of the survival crafting game with an engaging core gameplay loop, dense atmosphere, and a beautiful and unique visual style.

  • Valheim 1.0 is an absolute paradox; I have never been more in love with, and yet this remarkably frustrated by, a videogame before.

  • You don’t need to be as strong as a Viking to enjoy Valheim. However, having that strength and a few friends by your side might help you survive and navigate this fascinating yet unforgiving world.

  • Valheim, an indie masterpiece in itself, has made wonders not only for the Vikings as a core concept but managed to improve on the almost depleted survival sandbox genre. Yes, Valheim is standing on the shoulders of giants such as Minecraft and Rust, but there is something about this small indie game that could make us keep coming back for more. With more than 8 million players since its debut in early access, Valheim is a massive success.

About the game

Valheim is an open-world survival and exploration game set in a procedurally generated world inspired by Norse mythology. Playing alone or with up to nine other players, you explore dangerous biomes, gather resources, craft weapons and armour, build Viking settlements and longships, and battle powerful creatures and bosses in order to prove yourself worthy of Odin. Progression is tied to exploration and defeating the Forsaken, with each biome introducing new enemies, resources, crafting possibilities and challenges. From the peaceful Meadows to the frozen Deep North, players can build, farm, sail, fight and explore the tenth world at their own pace.
