- VA-11 Hall-A: Cyberpunk Bartender Action is a unique experience that’s literally a book in game form. Mixing drinks and changing lives proves to be a blast as you interact with many interesting characters. There’s loads of reading to do here but as long as you’re ready to read a novel while you play, this is one book, er, game that you won’t want to put down.
Jemma Casson · Jun 25, 2019 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - VA-11 HALL-A is so much more than just chatting up clients and making drinks. It's the kind of game that makes you think, and it can be silly, serious, soul-crushing, and light-hearted, all at the same time. Its cyberpunk/anime flair is just the garnish on top of the cocktail.
Cheyenne Clark · May 13, 2019 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - As far as contemporary cyberpunk games go, you’d be pressed to find a better game than VA-11 HALL-A: Cyberpunk Bartender Action. Like a refreshing drink after a hard day’s work, this game hits the spot for those thirsting for another taste of that sweet, sweet mechanical dystopian feeling. And, thanks to its engaging story that manages to straddle both humor and drama without being overbearing on either front, it’s got a little bit of something for everyone. So, whether it’s because you like booze, banter, or a bevy of bubbly (or not-so-bubbly) bros and babes, VA-11 HALL-A is one hole-in-the-wall worth visiting.
Kenny McKee · May 12, 2019 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - VA-11 HALL-A: Cyberpunk Bartender Action is definitely not for everyone. The game is a heavily narrative driven game with a lot of reading. However, those who invest in the adventure will find a lot of fascinating characters as you discover not only the personal lives these people live but the world itself.
Grayshadow · May 10, 2019 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - While it’s not the most immediate of games and probably won’t appeal to those who want constant stimulation and action, VA-11 HALL-A has a tonne of heart that cannot be denied and a lot more depth than you may initially realise, all backed by razor-sharp writing (which also isn’t afraid of pushing taboos) and lovely visuals. Pour yourself a cold one and allow yourself to be surprised by this gem.
Jimmy Donnellan · May 06, 2019 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - VA-11 HALL-A is a visual novel at heart, but all of the elements surrounding it make for a unique experience on its own. The Nintendo Switch version stands on its own as an excellent way of experiencing this cyberpunk tale, even if it's not completely flawless in terms of controls. diegoarguello · May 02, 2019 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Chat logs, history lessons, job descriptions, alibis, and cryptic orders all build what feels like a real place. More than ray tracing or 4K textures ever could, these collected story bits have swept up into a smoky dive that I’ll continually revisit, long after the tale is told. For a glimpse into something genuine, fascinating, and truly memorable, absolutely check out VA-11 HALL-A: Cyberpunk Bartender Action.
James Paley · May 01, 2019 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - VA-11 Hall-A is remarkably human in its nature. It goes to show that no matter how much changes in society, we’ll always be grappling with many of the same problems. Struggling with aspects of freedom, reality, and what it means to truly move on from the events that appear to define your life. It’s a fantastic story of self-growth in a futuristic setting that is just as interesting as its characters. It’s this careful world building and relatable writing that makes Sukeban Games’ gem a must play on consoles.
Tyler Treese · May 01, 2019 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - It truly does feel like you’re sat at the barstools with your friends, chugging some brewskis, shooting the shit, and (mostly) having a good time. You might be making out with a toilet come morning, but hey, in life there’s no reward without risk. So if you’ve yet to play VA-11 HALL-A, or if you just want to revisit it, prep your finest glass cleaning rag, because it’s time to mix drinks and change lives.
Kyle Campbell · May 01, 2019 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Overall, VA-11 HALL-A on the Switch is a marvelous port that works far better than I ever expected it to. The new controls may take some getting used to, but after a few minutes tinkering with them I found they came pretty naturally, and overall the game has kept the charm and likeability that drew me to it back in 2016. Gameplay may get a bit stale after long sessions of play, but for small relaxing wind-down sessions at the end of the night, you’ll find no better place to be than in Jill’s head during yet another shift at the bar.
