- Unruly Heroes is an action-platformer full of environmental puzzles and a Trine-inspired gameplay where we continuously switch between multiple heroes to solve puzzles and fight enemies.
TinyLittleGames · Mar 24, 2021 Reviewed on iOSRead full review - Unruly Heroes has the polish, personality, and performance of a top-tier platformer despite the things working against it. Its core design also works particularly well on mobile, where the game is ten times less expensive than it is elsewhere. Simply put, this is a no-brainer. Get this game.
Campbell Bird · Mar 19, 2021 Reviewed on iOSRead full review - Unruly Heroes is far from a bad game. In fact, it has some of my favorite platforming of recent memory, at least in terms of pure gameplay. It just lacks the polish needed for platformer completionists like me, and it’s uncompelling story and music did not help. At least the developers are supporting it with content, despite it being months after its launch. If you are looking for an affordable platformer, this game is a must, but don’t expect to be putting in the same hours as Yoshi’s Crafted World.
Seth Cano · Jun 04, 2019 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Unruly heroes is a beautiful and delightfully charming game, with everything in it looking hand-painted, brought to life by magical animation. It's a pity that imprecise controls make its difficulty curve more frustrating than it should be though. A lacking bit of spit and polish prevent Unruly Heroes from being an outstanding action platformer.
Geoffrey Tim · Jun 04, 2019 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - While reading this review, you’d have noticed that I’ve barely mentioned the game’s story and characters. That’s because the story and characters in Unruly Heroes are both lackluster. Also, the voice acting is amateurish and the dialogue is a bit too self-aware for its own good. Don’t expect this game’s plot to blow you away since, at best, it’s functional and inoffensive.Unruly Heroes is a fun indie platformer with gorgeous 2D graphics, great level design, decent combat, and tight, precise controls. This game should be a real treat for fans of platformers like Celeste or Super Meat Boy.
Isaac Monterose · Jun 03, 2019 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - A solid platforming experience, Unruly Heroes biggest issue is less its mechanics, and more its overall presentation. Stylish to a point, even its cartoonish aesthetics can't help but see it struggle to stand out.
Robert Grosso · May 29, 2019 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - Unruly Heroes is a decent action-platformer that has a fantastic art style and genuinely looks beautiful. The platforming and combat, for the most part, is sound, with a huge amount of variety to find in the levels. However, the controls can be a little unresponsive and the game does have issues with some very forced 'comedy', though comedy is always subjective. Is Unruly Heroes worth buying? For what is a reasonably low price, it is a decent title to pick up and is worth spending some time with.
Chris Wray · May 28, 2019 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - Unruly Heroes is a gorgeous action platformer that oozes charm. The single-player story mode is an absolute gem that I will undoubtedly revisit. The simplistic gameplay combined with a cast of four well-designed and unique characters makes for a fantastic experience that stands out from other platform games. If you don't want to go on this adventure alone Unruly Heroes can even be played with up to four players locally. Thereâ's also a PvP mode if you wish to test your skills against your friends. Pick up Unruly Heroes now for a wildly exciting adventure.
Becca Smith · May 28, 2019 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - Unruly Heroes is a superb action game destined to go down as one of this year’s sleeper hits. Mind you, in a just world, it would be more than a sleeper. But high profile or not, this is still one expertly-crafted burst of action that surprisingly comes in many flavors. Between the absolutely gorgeous artwork, fun combat and platforming, varied gameplay, and an immense amount of charm that creates an amazing take on a classic legend, this is a title you shouldn’t miss.
Kyle LeClair · Mar 01, 2019 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Whilst the voice acting is a dark mark on the representation, Unruly Heroes is an excellent and pleasant 2D action puzzle-platformer with a sublime balance between action and puzzles. The visuals are gorgeous, and the story is intriguing enough even if the comedy falls flat. It offers entertaining mechanics similar to the greatest titles in action platforming such as Crash Bandicoot and lesser known character swapping mechanics also found in Earthlock: Festival of Magic. We can honestly recommend Unruly Heroes and hope that the game will receive the recognition it certainly deserves.
