- Ultimate Marvel VS Capcom 3 doesn’t really welcome newcomers into the amazing crossover battles that the game can offer, and doesn’t have any new content to really tempt a double dip from an old fan, but the visual update and just being made available again is fantastic. It’s great to welcome another fighting franchise to the current generation if you’re looking for something to play with friends, but perhaps the PS3 version can be busted out for the same experience until Infinite comes out.
Alex Jackson · Jan 03, 2017 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - With a bunch of different ways to play, you will have a lot of time to sink into the game and if you’re like me, the fact that I couldn’t compete in the slightest in an online match has challenged me to gain some expertise and get better. If you were a fan of the legendary Marvel vs. Capcom 2, add this bad boy to your collection. If you’re looking forward to the fourth in the series, add this to your collection. Pick this one up is really the crux of my argument here. It’s an absolute blast to play.
Doug Mercer · Dec 30, 2016 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - On the whole then, whilst it is just a simple port, there’s no doubt that this is the best version of Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 available. It still has the issues that it always has, such as being unbalanced and having what has got to be one of the most aggravating final bosses in a fighting game ever, but the sharper visuals, improved performance and snappier load times more than make up for it.
Rich · Dec 28, 2016 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is exactly what you would expect, but that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. I am just glad to see it back in circulation, I do wish exclusivity would die though, making PC and XB1 players wait four months to play this remaster is flat out ridiculous. That said, get hype and welcome back the curly mustache. Marvel is back baby, and it feels so good.
Ken McKown · Dec 21, 2016 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - This is as bare-bones a port as possible, and nothing has been changed from a gameplay or feature perspective. That’s disappointing when you consider the lack of a decent tutorial and how bad the final boss fight is, but at the end of the day, it still presents a solid fighting game. It’s a fun way to celebrate Marvel vs. Capcom‘s past, while looking forward to the future next year.
Tyler Treese · Dec 18, 2016 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 shows its age visually, but is still as fun to play now as it was in 2011. The single player modes are only entertaining for so long, but the real fun is playing against other people. The only real difference with this version versus the original are slightly-improved visuals and DLC, making it a hard sell for those who can still play it on last-gen consoles, but it’s an easy way to revisit a classic for anyone who missed out on it or regrettably traded in their copy.
Chris Shive · Dec 16, 2016 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 became pretty elusive after being delisted awhile back, so getting a chance to obtain and play the game with ease again at a solid price is great. The single player content is still lacking and the netcode is pretty shoddy, but an impressive character lineup and the number of costumes included in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 for a bargain price is just the recipe to whet your appetite while you wait for the upcoming fourth entry in the series.
Dean James · Dec 14, 2016 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - UMVC3 arrives less than a year after the debut of MVC3, and brings with it a roster update of 12 new characters, 8 stages and some tweaks and adjustments to the rest of the game. The update is only available on a disc, it's an essential buy for people that take it seriously, but it's a harder sell for casual players. It’s funny to think about it, but the fighting game business model is only a step removed from sports games at this point.
Michael Grimm · Jun 24, 2012 Reviewed on X360, VitaRead full review - UMvC3 on Vita is near-identical to the console editions, so if you already own it at home there isn’t much more here to warrant a purchase. Anyone looking to get into the fighting genre would fare well here: it's not too technical at first, but offers enough gameplay and modes to turn you into a combo-mashing pro while keeping you entertained.
Nathan Michalik · Mar 29, 2012 Reviewed on VitaRead full review - With on-screen visuals that shine, control that is spot-on, and gameplay that is addictive, for a fighter, anyone who is a fan of fighting games, or is looking to show of some pretty graphics to their friends, really can’t do any wrong when considering buying this game for their new handheld console. That being said, fighting games are not for everyone, so keep this in mind too.
