  • The only other issue that can interrupt your enjoyment of Tower of Guns comes when you experience the harsh wake-up call that there is a such thing as too much fun. ...Complaints aside, Tower of Guns delivers an engaging experience that is well suited to short bursts of play in its standard form or long marathons in its ranked endless mode. The game offers no shortage of fun. So grab your gun--it's time to go to bullet hell.

  • Just don’t look for this game to be anything more than the short, intense bullet-hell experience than it is. Play it for a while, die many times, put down your controller, scream into a pillow, and go watch cat videos. And then, when you have calmed down, come back to play it again. If you stick with it, Tower of Guns will give you exactly what it promises – a few hours of insane, mostly fun, run-and-gun action.

I didn’t complete Tower of Guns and I don’t ever intend to. It completely lacks any sort of inspiration or gameplay to warrant me to continue. It has a very old school look and feel, but it’s something I can’t get into with its weak weapons and enemies, flat aiming, off jumping, lack of weapon feedback and more. The only thing worth noting was some upgrades and the sense of progression it gives, albeit small.

  • It's certainly a riot of a shooter that encourages you to get out there and blast away rather than cry behind cover, but it's lasting appeal is diminished by a lack of depth and some flimsy level design.

  • If you want to test your FPS skills, Tower of Guns throws down a tough and engaging challenge that's best enjoyed in short bursts.

  • The journey through Tower of Guns is what makes it fun; it isn’t a game about completion. Its intense firefights and ever-evolving environments are best enjoyed in short bursts. Many of your attempts end in failure, which might entice you to put the controller down, but its classic high-octane action is enough to lure you back for another run – at least for a while.

  • There's no doubt that Tower of Guns will be a game that you either love or hate. An interesting take on the FPS genre, the game feels like a cross between a more traditional shooter and a gameshow. It lacks polish in places and desperately wants for more game modes or something to extend the amount of provided game time beyond beating your best score or run, but there's potential here that the developers could – and should - build on in the future.

  • Tower of Guns is a brilliantly-crafted game that is seemingly forged from the tears of the players who fall to its traps. ...You’ll get excited, but rarely angry. The game’s difficulty is extreme, but doesn’t get to the point where you want to rage-quit. ...If you want a tough game, give this a shot — you won’t regret it. It’s a fun game that rises above any frustrations it may cause to create a memorable experience.

  • There is some depth to it, but it’s too watered down by the unexciting perks and badges, and the weird frequency of drops, along with the poor placement of many turrets. It’s perplexing to discover that rooms are entirely skippable, and defeating the enemies is actually optional. Obviously, this is detrimental early on, but once you’re buffed up, you can speedrun easily.

  • The best you can do is react as fast as you can, tossing back as much firepower as is sent your way while grabbing every power-up you can. Tower of Guns is an ass-kicking bullet-hell FPS arcade-style action, loaded with cool toys and unpredictable situations, and one of the most purely fun shooters I’ve seen in a very long time.
