- I found basic online multiplayer to be the biggest surprise, with a large, active community of tennis enthusiasts offering competitive play without pretense. I had no problem finding a quick exhibition match against friendly fans, with no lag, latency, or lobby concerns. This is a major win, and possibly my new preferred way to enjoy digital tennis. Regardless of the drawbacks, fans should welcome Top Spin back into their lives thanks to the largely enjoyable 2K25. With some visual and audio enhancement, and maybe a slightly more accessible learning curve, this series could find a new generation of fans. Let’s just hope it doesn’t take another 13 years to do it.

Undoubtedly it does suffer from a few glaring problems, from an unrealistic virtual currency system, to a miniscule list of licensed players, and a dreadful lack of content. However, it still feels like an unfurnished apartment though there’s that hope then, of adding new pieces of furniture like captivating game modes, of sprinkling in decorations and lamps in the form of a larger roster of tennis pros and unique trophies. Much like a young phenom bursting into the spotlight in real tennis, TopSpin 2K25 may not be winning titles just yet, but it’s one to definitely keep an eye out for.

It could’ve been better, but I’ve enjoyed the time I’ve put into it. I’m not sure if this will become a yearly series for 2K, but I’m glad to see TopSpin return. I look forward to seeing what future updates bring for the game.

And there is a baseline class to Top Spin, a great-feeling tennis game underneath any of the other complaints. But it's in very poor form, making unforced errors, double-faulting, and missing volleys. It's hard to recommend Top Spin 2K25 when there are so many simple features missing and a sour-tasting battle pass, but it's hard not to recommend Top Spin 2K25 when it's the best rally to rally tennis game I've ever played.

No es pretencioso, no busca ser más de lo que es, sólo ofrece lo que tiene y de la mejor manera. Seas o no fan del tenis, vale mucho la pena que le des una oportunidad porque puedes jugar un partido que no te quitará mucho tiempo, te distraerá, divertirá e incluso, relajará.

It certainly is made for hardcore tennis fans but has enough space for those looking to dip into the series for the first time.

With a deceptively layered and precision-oriented series of gameplay systems, lovingly recreated venues, and a selection of game modes that should hold your attention for a good amount of time (with crossplay), both spectators in the stands and court veterans alike can find something to latch onto here and enjoy.

A solid foundation has been laid here for a future release that expands the mode selections and puts some more meat on the bone. As it stands, all but the most hardcore should probably wait for a sale.

It wonderfully combines smooth and responsive gameplay with the engaging tactical aspects of tennis to create something that is a joy on the court. It's too bad the presentation is barebones and the suite of gameplay modes is limited. Ultimately though, it's the onerous microtransactions-- once again front and center in a 2K sports game--that truly hold it back and keep Top Spin 2K25 from approaching the series' former glory.
