- 8.0 Tomb Raider Collection: IV – VI Remastered is available now on PC, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4/5, and Nintendo Switch.
Kyle Nicol · Feb 15, 2025 Reviewed on PCRead full review - We feel that Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition is an expertly paced adventure, packed with gorgeous environments, vicious but wonderfully satisfying combat, elegant controls and a fairly competent story to boot. It all comes together in a well-crafted package that successfully puts Lara Croft back in the spotlight. If you never had the chance to experience the game a year ago, then the Definitive Edition is an absolute no-brainer.
Anthony Bacchus · Apr 28, 2014 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition is not just your average port. In my honest opinion, it is the first true next gen title on the PS4. Great enhancements and an amazing store make this a must buy title for any next-gen owners.
Matthew Verniere · Feb 19, 2014 Reviewed on PS4, XB1Read full review - Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition has the luxury of being the first disc-based release for these new consoles in a while, meaning starving gamers are sure to snag it up; even those that have already taken to Lara’s adventure. Thankfully this isn’t a quick or cheap port that does a disservice to the original experience.
Ken McKown · Feb 06, 2014 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - If you’ve already plundered every last dusty antique in Lara Croft’s origin story on the PlayStation 3, then you’re going to need to decide for yourself whether you have the resolve to do it again. Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition is an exceptional port of an already entertaining escapade, but outside of the extravagant visuals, there’s not a whole lot to sweeten the purchase a second time.
Sammy Barker · Feb 03, 2014 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - My adventure truly is a fascinating one: island inhabitants relentlessly attacking my friends and I, the Hollywoodesque-disasters that nearly killed me, the myth of the island itself.... What happened on that island is what made me the explorer that I am today. It’s my story; it’s one that’s raw and significant to me. And it’s one worth listening to at least once. But if you’ve heard my tale before, hang tight—I’ll have a new story to tell you soon.
Esmeralda Portillo · Jan 31, 2014 Reviewed on PS4 - Is the Definitive Edition worth buying? The improvements are too subtle and gimmicky for me to recommend that experienced Tomb Raiders--people who have already finished the game on PS3 or Xbox 360--drop $50 / £40 on the next-gen version. ...It's still brilliant, and the Definitive Edition is the superior version.
Ryan Taljonick · Jan 28, 2014 Reviewed on PS4, XB1Read full review - The amount of work put into offering next-gen consoles an upgraded Lara Croft makes the Definitive Edition much more than a simple cash grab. One of the pinnacles of last-gen gaming is presented as one of the best looking games on offer for your new console if not one of the best looking games you’ve ever seen, period. Perhaps not worth the full price tag if you’ve already played it there is no doubt that if you missed it on round one that it’s better than ever now and worth every penny.
Shawn Petraschuk · Jan 27, 2014 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - While all of these positives remain a huge plus, though, Tomb Raider still has plenty of flaws, the story being its biggest misstep. Incredibly obvious and packed full of cliches, you can't help but cringe at some of the dialogue as people speak to each other as if they were reciting a GCSE play. The Last of Us would laugh Tomb Raider out of the playground.
Simon Miller · Jan 27, 2014 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - Tomb Raider itself is well-worth the purchase—it’s a great game. The decision you must make is if improved visuals are enough to warrant buying this Definitive Edition. Frankly, I’m convinced that its release is more about profitability on a product that’s already crafted than it is about bringing a vastly superior next-generation version of Tomb Raider to the market.
