It’s far from the most complex game I’ve ever played, both in the simple but entertaining puzzles it asks you to solve and the ultra-satisfying but mechanically straightforward movement mechanics you’ll use to do so. But its levels and characters are overflowing with charm and personality, and the way its oversized rooms are themed and structured hooked me in and didn’t let go until every last ball of pollen was in my pocket.

  • Tinykin is a “stop and smell the roses'' kind of game that is brief in a way that gives a meaningful experience without overstaying its welcome. Its charming world and endearing characters are a pleasant window dressing to this safe, mellow bit of fun, and that’s all it needs to be.

  • I would talk about the story but outside of simple details around the world when playing the levels, most of the story comes in right at the end of the game in what I felt was pretty sad for a game this happy. It has a happy ending though and I did like it. There’s a lot to be enjoyed by both kids and adults in Tinykin.

  • Tinykin feels comforting in an old-school sense. Its challenges never become convoluted, nor does its design reinvent the wheel, and that’s okay. Tinykin executes its handful of ideas exceptionally well, making it a thoroughly enjoyable and laid-back journey that only requires six to eight hours of your time. Don’t let this delightful adventure sneak under your radar.

  • Granted, this is a game that is hard to give credit for how fun it is without trying it out for yourself and the high price tag might be a deterrent to do so. Fortunately, you don’t just have to take our word for it as the game also has a free demo available.

  • Tinykin is a bright and accessible game with some slick mechanics that allow the player to focus on what they came for: getting a tiny spaceman lost in a big, beautiful world.

  • Its charm, light-hearted humor, impressive level design, and overall tone create a game that feels both nostalgic and new, and perfectly captures the exuberance of gaming as a wide-eyed kid.

  • It’s a small game that provides a bit of fun before you move on to something else. There are certainly elements of it taken from other games in the genre, but it brings them together in a way that is new and shows a great deal of imagination, and it really doesn’t do much wrong.

  • I recommend the game to all those who like to explore all the nooks and crannies, turn over all the stones, climb into all the dusty cracks and conquer the tops of bookcases. The game is easy, not straining, but has its own zest.

  • While borrowing a lot, Tinykin has a lot of uniqueness to it. The atmosphere is peculiar, and the style is unlike pretty much everything else, with characters being 2D cutouts in a fully 3D world. It’s a curious stylistic decision, and it adds a certain charm to the game.
