- ...a brilliantly crafted episode; it does have a slow beginning, but it serves as a red herring to the chaos that ensues throughout
Esmeralda Portillo · Sep 04, 2014 Reviewed on X360 - Overall, the episode is hampered by the weak pacing of the latter part of this season and a real lack of narrative direction. Things keep going, and it’s good enough for you to keep playing, but you are never as engrossed as you should be until things really ramp up. It’s good, but the Walking Dead has been so much better.
Stephen Gillespie · Sep 01, 2014 Reviewed onRead full review - The finale to The Walking Dead’s second season retains Telltale’s crown as the king of interactive storytelling. While this is a dark and frantic romp, ‘No Going Back’ also includes some light-hearted moments, which makes those closing scenes even more impactful. As a whole, this season is another seriously impressive achievement, and it will leave you asking one question: what’s going to happen next?
Graham Banas · Aug 29, 2014 Reviewed on PS3, VitaRead full review - This is basically an A student turning in a C paper on their best subject. It's okay, but it ought to have been so much more. I guess we'll see what happens in the inevitable Season Three.
Shaun Musgrave · Aug 29, 2014 Reviewed on iOSRead full review - Beyond the story in this kind of game, there’s not much to describe, but if you’re new, I will reiterate. The graphics are remarkably cel-shaded, and each scene looks like it’s torn from the pages of a comic book. ...It’s never complicated, but it certainly is not robust. I typically play games for the story, so I shouldn’t complain, but I always feel like I could be more engaged when I play a Telltale game.
Gil Almogi · Aug 28, 2014 Reviewed on PCRead full review - No Going Back — and Season Two as a whole — felt like a disservice to Season One and the sacrifices made by Lee. In Season One there was a beautiful open ending, in which Lee sent Clementine off into the world, better prepared and left to survive. Lee taught us that we needed something to love and live for.
Chandler Wood · Aug 28, 2014 Reviewed on PS3Read full review - Episode 5 is an excellent display of the emotional journey that The Walking Dead provides, including some of the biggest decisions of the series thus far. The branching endings raise a lot of questions on how the series will move forward in Season Three and I know I absolutely cannot wait to see how they manage to go about it. The Walking Dead: Season 2 concludes exceptionally well and the season as a whole is worth playing, if for any other reason than to be able to play the final episode, No Going Back.
Dean James · Aug 28, 2014 Reviewed on X360Read full review - The apocalypse isn’t fun, and this game series has pounded that into my mind multiple times. If you’ve played the previous episodes in this season, yes, you really should buy this final episode. If you’re still holding out for season two, do yourself a favor and pick it up. It’s a tragic, surprising and entertaining ride.
Drew Leachman · Aug 27, 2014 Reviewed on PCRead full review - All that said, Telltale continues to prove why it's among the masters of storytelling in videogames today, with an almost unmatched grasp of how to write believable characters, meaningful situations, and create a sense of tragedy and horror that truly engages with the player, thanks to a depth and nuance that you just don't see in other games.
Jim Sterling · Aug 27, 2014 Reviewed on PCRead full review - It took a while for The Walking Dead: Season 2 and its story to find their footing, but Telltale still knows how to pack an emotional punch. Whether it was during the hostage situation at the end of the second episode, the escape attempt at the end of the third episode, or the twist at the very end of the season, there are still a number of heartbreaking moments that promise to touch feelings in ways that few other games can. Overall, this is the essence of The Walking Dead. It's tragedy and despair, with only that one faint glimmer of hope that keeps humanity going.
