- The Valiant is a pretty good RTS game that doesn’t do anything too special, which probably helped when the developers ported the game to consoles. The game controls well and is a great introduction to the genre. The story isn’t that special and tells a classical medieval tale of war and comradery, but the gameplay shines with a collection of game modes and enough customization to keep it interesting.

The downside is that there is a lot of micromanagement going on here and juggling different mechanics can feel overwhelming.

The game's story holds it back due to the bland characters that inhabit it, in addition to this, while the gameplay can be intense, the excessive micro-management and consistent 'back and forth' make it far more tedious than needed. It is a game only massive RTS fans should really get.

While the game looks and sounds great, only the most hardcore RTS lovers should really pick it up now. Others still new or tepid to the genre should wait for a significant price drop.

And while The Valiant does have multiplayer, don’t count on being able to find any opponents to clash with online.

The story is good, and it is often better to restart a whole mission knowing what you know, than it is to try and carry on from your last save, but the way that everything devolves into a mass ruck with no strategy involved tends to take the edge off.
