- Even with the occasional tricky platforming section The Touryst is an absolute joy to play. There’s a diverse range of puzzles and silly mini-games for you to discover and have an absolute blast with. It’s a delightful bite-sized adventure that, just like a real holiday, is likely to leave you with fond memories and wishing you could spend more time there.
Jenny Jones · Sep 08, 2021 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - This game isn't going to raise the bar for game mechanics but it does everything well enough to provide a fun experience that is sure to lift your spirits.
Dan Hastings · Jul 15, 2021 Reviewed onRead full review - Possibly my favorite thing about The Touryst is its length and how self-contained the experience is (though they tease a sequel I hope we get). I completed the story, and every side activity, and even picked up all the achievements in just over six hours. It’s priced low, provides a simple yet diverse gameplay loop, looks phenomenal, and doesn’t outstay its welcome.
Andrew Logue · Nov 27, 2020 Reviewed on Series X|SRead full review - The Touryst was a joy to play. It’s fun, calming, and simple. The puzzles can sometimes be tough to figure out, but it is satisfying when you solve it. It’s not long at about 5-7 hours to complete and it’s currently on Gamepass, so if you’re a subscriber give it a go!
Ian Wray · Aug 09, 2020 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - Besides the out of place design choices in regards to how the puzzle elements are handled, The Touryst is a decent break from reality that provides adorable and light busywork for the thumbs. It sure is a pretty place to mooch around in and will undoubtedly please those who may be looking to carry on stretching out that The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening feeling.
Darren Palma · Dec 21, 2019 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - I found that as the credits rolled on The Touryst's strange ending, I was keen for them to finish so I could jump straight back in and mop up the remaining objectives. Admittedly, even if you want to do absolutely everything, The Touryst isn't very long—my completion total sat at 94% after five and a half hours. But perhaps it's better this way--after all, the best vacations often end before you've had a chance to really get homesick. It's the next best thing to an actual holiday.
James O'Connor · Dec 20, 2019 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - If I were subject to an endless series of cut-scenes where characters prattle through the exposition, I wouldn't have walked away from The Touryst as intrigued as I am. Mind you, it's not an amazing experience or something I'm going to remember several months from now like other, more dynamic indie games. But, as a small, self-contained adventure with gorgeous style and a playful sense of freedom, I was more than satisfied when the credits rolled.
CJ Andriessen · Nov 28, 2019 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - That’s the thing with The Touryst: If you view it from a more cliff-notes — for lack of a better term — perspective, just appreciating the total volume of activities you can partake in, it’s a pleasant one. But if you truly hone in on each specific point, and each specific activity, you realize they were simply slightly above average; there isn’t a truly big “WOW” moment in terms of gameplay.
Javier Reyes · Nov 27, 2019 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - The Touryst is a wonderful slice of adventure gaming paradise, but it features some tough platforming and challenges that can be a little frustrating. Ultimately, though, these concerns are minor when compared to the visual splendour and dream-like atmosphere of the various islands and environments. Although it might not take you too long to see and do everything, that’s probably because you’ll have such a hard time putting it down.
Jordan Rudek · Nov 25, 2019 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - All-in-all though, The Touryst is a great little vacation simulator with clean cube graphics, a fun little plotline, and plenty of minigames to check out. It’s a “byte” sized game that is good “bit” of fun – sorry, I couldn’t help myself. The point is, if you’re looking for a simple puzzle and platformer game then make sure to check out The Touryst, out now on Xbox One and Windows 10.
