  • The Sun and Moon is an excellent platformer that will make your brain work and give players a challenge that is often missing in modern games. Although the game looks simple, the no-frills approach means that you can focus on the gameplay - and trust me, you'll need to!

  • You can play The Sun and Moon with both a controller or keyboard. Despite this being the kind of game that begs to be played with a joypad, I didn’t find the keyboard inadequate by any means. Controls are very responsive, like you would expect from a game where even millimetric movements can make the difference between success and failure.

  • Make no mistake, The Sun and Moon is not to be taken lightly. It's a very difficult game, and achieving the best possible times will take a lot out of even the most hardened veterans. The method for unlocking levels is open-ended, so players should never feel like they have to repeatedly headbutt the same brick wall until progress is made.

  • For purists of the platforming genre, however, The Sun and Moon is a title worth checking out, because under the visual flaws and sharp difficulty spikes, there is potential for a great game.

  • To brand the game as a failure would be unjust, however. Although far from being essential, it’s easy to see why The Sun and Moon cleaned up at Ludum Dare 29. It’s just a shame that the end result lacks the substance and feature set needed to embrace a larger, more diverse audience.

  • The Sun and Moon is a perfect example of a very competently made game that lacks heart. There are some good ideas here and the platforming can be enjoyable in short spurts, but it is missing something to tie it all together. An occasional clever twist, or inspired level, simply isn't enough to carry the game through to the end, and everything starts to blend together after a while.

  • The Sun and Moon nos ha encantado.

About the game

The Sun and Moon, the winner of Ludum Dare 29, is a platformer with a unique mechanic: you can dive into the ground. Momentum is conserved but gravity is reversed, letting you fling yourself high into the air or deep beneath the surface.
