  • Supermassive Games has been trying to better Until Dawn for seven years now, and at this point, it looks like it's never, ever going to happen. The Quarry is just a bit dull, and that's the exact opposite of what these types of titles strive to be.

  • If I were to take the game super seriously, this would be an annoying deterrent, but the fact is that this is a short horror video game with college kids running from monsters. “Pro gamers” may be frustrated, but if you’re here for the ride, then I expect these moments might not bother you all that much.

  • The Quarry is a great narrative-driven experience and it feels a lot more polished than Supermassive Games’ other projects for The Dark Pictures Anthology games. We very much enjoyed the atmosphere of this title, as well as its graphical prowess and sound design. We sometimes disliked the characters we were supposed to guide to safety, as well as some minor issues with the choice-making progress, but this game is still very much worth it if you’re looking for a great survival horror experience that revolves mainly around its story

  • The Quarry is better than its predecessors due to its story, its characters and its game mechanics. All of them came together in a perfect marriage of comedy, horror and good ole fun gameplay. If you want a challenge, play Elden Ring. But if you want fun that you can play alone or with friends, The Quarry is the game of the summer, in my oh-so-humble opinion. Forget horror for Halloween, summer is the new spooky time.

  • The Quarry is, without a doubt, a phenomenal game. This game epitomizes what a horror game should look like, and they’ve gone even further to add more features to make it a much more enjoyable story.

Aside from the small issues I had, one of which made me upset, I still enjoyed my time with the game. So much that I played halfway through it, stopped, convinced my wife to join me since she liked Until Dawn, and then played through it again. Oh, and my wife and I are wanting to play through it again to try out the opposite decisions. I still find Until Dawn an overall better experience, but The Quarry is a fun time especially with some friends arguing what we need to do in a situation.

  • The replay value is affected by the structure of the game, The Quarry comes across as a needy teen that fails to captivate you after you give them the attention they seek. It can be a breezy and light experience for a hot summer weekend.

  • As for the ending, there isn’t one—just a montage of postscripts, detailing the fates of the various characters. Only, we already know their fates, having been at least partially responsible for them. As the credits rolled, the sweetness of the humour had grown stale, and I felt distinctly unsated, though hardly hungry for more. I hate to say it, but Supermassive has made a Butterpop.

  • The Quarry isn't exactly the scariest game out there, but horror game aficionados will find plenty to enjoy here thanks to its high-stakes gameplay and fantastic performances from its all-star cast. If that doesn't sound like your type of game, it becomes difficult to justify paying full price for a 10-hour experience.

  • The end of summer brings about an incredible narrative adventure with some limited choices, but there’s a lot of tension and excitement waiting in most scenes. There is a litany of small problems, but they don’t stand in the way of a wonderful experience.
