- The Park is a tale of tragedy that takes you on a literal and metaphorical roller coaster. Although the game lacks in the graphics department and sticks to the bare minimum in terms of gameplay mechanics, it is one that story seekers will probably want to check out. Get your box of tissues ready.
Steven Green · Nov 14, 2019 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Ultimately this is a bland experience with a runtime less than some actually scary horror films. At $15.99, there just is no way I can recommend this. It almost feels like it is more suited to a VR demo, than an actual game. Save your money and rent a good horror movie, those at least come with a few scares.
Ryan Tessier · May 10, 2016 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - The Park doesn’t really bring anything new to the horror table, but honestly, that’s okay. Its 90 minutes are filled with an impressive atmosphere, interesting themes, and spooky places to poke around. While some of the attractions are a bit long in the tooth, The Park provides enough tension and scares to warrant a playthrough from any horror fan.
Marty Sliva · May 04, 2016 Reviewed onRead full review - The Park ends in an area riddled with its loudest scares that feel cheap, which is disappointing given how atmospheric the first part of the game is. Despite its lacking final moments, The Park makes the experience of searching a haunting, abandoned amusement park feel genuinely tense. This, rather than a specific plot point, is what sticks with you after you turn off the game and return to your normal, less disturbing reality.
Zorine Te · Nov 03, 2015 Reviewed on PCRead full review - The Park is more unnerving that outright scary, though there are a few attempts at jump scares scattered throughout the game. It’s clear that Funcom has a few P.T. fans among its ranks, and a section that plays like an extended homage to Konami’s aborted Silent Hills project is one of the highlights. The ending is likely to be seen as either stunning or silly, depending on how much players have given themselves up to the story.
Jeff Cork · Oct 28, 2015 Reviewed on PC - If you're looking for pure horror, maybe go elsewhere. The Park isn't a "survival" game nor is it going for scares -- there's only one portion that provides that feeling, in fact. Instead, the narrative attempts a more disturbing tone, with realistic and relatable problems told through the veil of a creepy theme park.
Chris Carter · Oct 27, 2015 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Having recently reviewed Layers of Fear, a game which also dealt with the themes of mental illness and horror, I was expecting a lot more from The Park. Walking around a fun fair for an hour with a shouty, sweary woman who is only interested in herself is about as much fun as it sounds. I suggest you save your money for a ticket to a real fun fair and hope you get stuck on a rollercoaster for an hour. That would be much more thrilling than The Park.
Tuffcub · May 09, 2016 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - The Park is a bit of an oddity. A walking simulator with an incredibly brief runtime – 90 minutes at a leisurely pace – that nonetheless has some fun ideas sprinkled in. Actually riding the amusement park rides is a lot of fun – and effectively creepy in a couple of instances – but the rest of the game has nothing to offer other than walking really.
Graham Banas · May 04, 2016 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - The Park is deep, complex and disturbing. With great themes and passive mechanics, The Parks invites you to create a seriesof images in your mind that will put you in the flesh of the main character, Lorraine, and question her continuosly. Its links to The Secret World make it a bit confusing for those who haven't played it, though.
Borja Vilar Martos · Nov 28, 2015 Reviewed on PCRead full review - This is noticeable in terms of mechanics, yet The Park is still sufficiently different from its inspirations to avoid feeling like a copycat. It's a technically simple game with an interesting story that's gradually revealed, albeit somewhat earlier than could be considered optimal. The atmosphere is excellent and although The Park is the nastiest experience we've had in some time, we enjoyed it.
