- The Outer Worlds is a complex, compact sci-fi RPG that should be any spacer's first choice, especially when it is bundled with DLC and quality-of-life upgrades on modern consoles and PC.
Noah Leiter · Aug 22, 2023 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - All in all, The Outer Worlds is a fantastic game that deserves better than this. Hopefully, enough effort is put into bringing the Spacer’s Choice Edition in line with peoples’ expectations over the coming months, and if not, then at least the base game still exists and is worth picking up instead.
SebastiaanRaats · Mar 27, 2023 Reviewed on PCRead full review - The game's overall quality suffers a little because of the constant irrelevant switching of gears and items that takes the attention. Yet, it's a solid role-playing game where stories and choices matter more than mindless fetch quests. It is significantly enhanced graphically, and the AI is vastly improved compared to the original.
Rayan · Mar 20, 2023 Reviewed on PCRead full review - For sheer memorable and engaging gameplay, I recommend The Outer Worlds. It was an absolute delight to play back in 2019, and it still holds up as one of my all-time favorite gaming experiences. I am pleased with the graphical upgrades and enhancements from The Outer Worlds: Spacer’s Choice Edition. Although, with less new content and more new bugs, it should have been a free upgrade for returning players.
Alexander Thomas · Mar 20, 2023 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - To have this fun and absurd outer space adventure make a comeback in 2023 in a shiny new package is much appreciated, as its medium scope and many varied ways to approach any situation in The Outer Worlds: Spacer’s Choice Edition make it an unforgettable experience. While it is not as sprawling as other sandboxes in the genre, its dense and rich linear narrative with its meaningful sidequests and worthwhile storylines warrants a playthrough.
Andres Aviles · Mar 17, 2023 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - In conclusion, The Outer Worlds: Spacer’s Choice ends up being a half baked package that doesn’t really justify its price tag. Whatever minuscule upgrades have been done to the experience don’t really amount to much in the grand scheme of things, and with performance issues galore – Spacer’s Choice isn’t the definitive edition of the game that it clearly wanted to be.
Usaid · Mar 09, 2023 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - This game is certainly not locked in its performance department. That is not all though. There are also new graphical touches such as volumetric lighting, enhanced environmental detail, and particle physics. The game truly looks like a remaster of the original game. The character models have also been improved and now look more realistic. New AI improvements and even dynamic weather round out the package making this game look and feel like a substantial upgrade.
Ken McKown · Mar 08, 2023 Reviewed on Series X|SRead full review - The Outer Worlds is an awesome game, so it’s nice to have the option to enjoy it with all the amenities of a new generation of hardware. While the performance is a bit iffy, the visuals really pop, and the updated character models add to your immersion in this imaginative space adventure.
David Burdette · Mar 08, 2023 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - The Outer Worlds' level cap is increased to 99, and there are further mysteries to be unraveled across Halcyon, be it upon the Gorgon Asteroid, where you're tasked with discovering the origins of Adrena-Time, or on Eridanos, where you get to play detective, determining who's behind the demise of Rizzo spokesperson Halycon Helen.
Richard Walker · Mar 07, 2023 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - The older game runs better, it honestly in some instances looks better and it can even be argued that the more restrictive level cap encourages replayability. This ultimately leaves the name of this remaster rather apt.
