  • In the end, I enjoyed myself most when I stopped comparing Nioh to Souls games and appreciated it for what it is. Nioh has fast-paced, challenging combat with a deep loot and upgrade system. With well-designed levels and a ton of content, it's easy to sink a lot of time into this visit to Sengoku era Japan.

  • The Nioh Collection is an absurdly good value proposition: two fantastic titles with a staggering amount of content and a stellar battle system make these some of the best action games available.

  • The Nioh Collection is a great addition to the very limited PS5 library. Both games have that typical Dark Souls vibe, that eventually turns into something very original crafted by the hands of Team Ninja. While the first game, even in its remastered form, feels a bit ‘older’, both are great titles to play through in order.

  • It’s heavily skill-based where you will need to learn and master the mechanics in order to overcome the trials or simply summon someone who’s overpowered who can mow down an entire stage without looking. Nioh won’t go easy on you, but if you’re up to the test, you’ll find an incredible amount of rich and rewarding content.

  • The Nioh Collection is not going to convert anyone who doesn’t already like it. If beating your head against a boss for hours until the glorious moment of inspiration strikes isn’t for you, nothing here will change that. However, if you are a fan, this upgrade is one of the easiest purchases you’ll make this year.

  • Granted, this is a Team Ninja game so you can expect that it will punish you for each and every inch of ground you gain, but when you do succeed it makes it all the sweeter.

  • The Nioh Collection is a great bundle that offers truckloads of great content across both critically acclaimed Nioh titles, complete with all the bells and whistles you'd come to expect from remasters. While the visual changes aren't the most noticeable, the PS5's juggernaut hardware allows the game to run at much smoother frame rates (a necessity for the game's mechanics), and boosts the resolution for that extra bit of visual flare in already beautiful-looking games.

  • Nioh and Nioh 2 are fantastic action RPGs, and a wonderful take on the FromSoft Souls template, that actually do many things better than the pioneering Dark Souls series. And if you’re going to be trying these games out for the first time, the PS5 collection is the way to go – in every sense of the word, this is, truly, the definitive edition of these games.

  • The Nioh Collection crams two great games and six story expansions into one complete, content-stuffed package. Despite its extensiveness, the lack of exclusive content or noteworthy new features make it a hard sell in its entirety. It gives Team Ninja a good excuse to try and grab some more attention for some legitimately great games, but calling these remasters is perhaps a bit of an embellishment.

  • Nioh Remastered – The Complete Edition and Nioh 2 Remastered – The Complete Edition, both also available separately, are expertly-crafted games that are hard to pick fault with. Across both titles there’s literally hundreds of hours of adventuring to be done, and thanks to leveraging the power of the PS5 the action has never looked or played better.
