- The Gardens Between is a beautiful award-winning 3D puzzle adventure game about two kids traveling through surreal dream worlds while dealing with obstacles and solving puzzles.
Alex Sem · Jul 14, 2021 Reviewed on iOSRead full review - The Gardens Between takes full advantage of its mobile platform to deliver a thoughtful puzzler that will leave you wanting more.
Brendon Dellinger · Aug 09, 2020 Reviewed on AndRead full review - The end of the game may be the end of being neighbors, but it doesn’t mean the end of being friends. Arina and Frendt evolve over time together, from kiddie pools to exploring drains. My friends and I preferred to explore the local cemetery, which seems bleak in retrospect. Anyway, they will keep evolving as they are apart, and in my mind they remain friends through the trials of tribulations of growing up and into adulthood.
Lindsay Mayhew · May 17, 2019 Reviewed on iOSRead full review - So much of what makes The Gardens Between so great needs to be experienced. Trying to explain it more simply won’t help you get it. Instead, you should just go play The Gardens Between without giving it a second thought.
Campbell Bird · May 17, 2019 Reviewed on iOSRead full review - There are fleeting moments of brilliance to the puzzle design in The Gardens Between, but, between them, the pace meanders to the point where my interest started to wane. There can be no doubt that it’s unlike anything else that you will have played before, but, in turn, the wondrous idea that lies at its core never feels like it blossoms into something that manages to enter its stride. The potential and talent is clear, though, and I greatly look forward to seeing what The Voxel Agents create next.
Alex Seedhouse · Feb 23, 2019 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - The only issues with The Gardens Between is its short length and its utter lack of replay value. If you enjoy heart warming bite-sized puzzle games, the journey found here is as stunning, as unique, and as clever as they come. The game’s core time manipulation concept works sensationally well with its few mechanics, serving up puzzles that, although quite simple, remain thoughtful and captivating throughout.
Mark Sherwood · Nov 28, 2018 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - The Gardens Between is a charming, engaging, and inventive puzzler with the potential to really draw you into its world of bittersweet nostalgia. While the puzzles may lack some teeth for the brain game veteran, there’s plenty of fun to be had here.
AJ Irwin · Oct 09, 2018 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - Some people might think it’s too short but it’s a start contrast to a solid chunk of big budget games that boast nebulous amounts of content over shorter, more authored experiences. The Gardens Between uses its brevity to its favor and shows a wordless, thoughtful relationship through some clever, well-paced levels without overstaying its welcome or repeating itself. And that’s value that a “dollars to hours” ratio can’t calculate.
Michael Leri · Oct 07, 2018 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - The Gardens Between is a beautiful and charming game that is as clever as it is touching.
Kirstie Summers · Oct 04, 2018 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - My one gripe with The Gardens Between is that the game is relatively short. With 18 islands and one final island broken up into 3 different sections, this game will only take you about 2-3 hours to complete. I felt satisfied with the game dynamics and bittersweet ending, but I was definitely left wanting a bit more. It does however have a fairly low price tag at $19.99 and I will say that I truly think it’s worth your time, especially if you enjoy clever new takes on the puzzle genre. If you’re worried, like I was, that the game about two friends reliving their fun times together will be too sappy for you, then never fear. There’s only just barely enough narrative to give the level designs purpose. The main focus is the environmental puzzle elements and they’re very well done.
