- The Falconeer absolutely has its high points, and all of the elements of a great game are there. It’s just disappointing that they don’t gel enough to be wholly satisfying. Visually, the game is stunning, without caveat. The combat can be exhilarating … at its best. The story can be interesting, even fascinating … sometimes.
Abraham Kobylanski · Dec 22, 2020 Reviewed on PCRead full review - The Falconeer is an intriguing game with a great world, story, lore, and general theme. The visuals are simple, but clean and striking in design and lighting. There are some great ideas here that would have benefited from a more streamlined experience.
Jordan Hawes · Dec 15, 2020 Reviewed on Series X|SRead full review - I want to love The Falconeer, and I do love it in a way, but I cannot recommend it. Despite the quality of its art style and the peacefulness that exudes when you fly over its endless ocean, it’s a tedious and plodding experience.
Jonathan Miley · Dec 11, 2020 Reviewed on Series X|S - With a distinct art style, gorgeous animations, and intriguing lore, there's enough in The Falconeer to justify a playthrough, but most of its enjoyment doesn't shine through until the last couple of hours.
Chris Barnes · Dec 10, 2020 Reviewed on Series X|SRead full review - The Falconeer starts off as a fun, original take on aerial combat but quickly turns into a boring exercise in repetition that even a mysterious and interesting world can’t save.
Brad Lang · Nov 27, 2020 Reviewed on Series X|SRead full review - The Falconeer doesn’t do anything glaringly wrong, and yet, the overall experience doesn’t really click. The game looks lovely, controls well, and offers surprising depth considering it was created by a single developer, but an uninvolving world, repetitive missions, and combat that isn’t as visceral as it should be grounds its potential.
Nathan Birch · Nov 25, 2020 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Whether you’re a fan of aerial combat or not, The Falconeer is recommendable. It isn’t perfect and does feel a little rough around the edges in some parts, but that doesn’t stop the game being an enjoyable ride, for both the eyes and the ears.
Megan Walton · Nov 24, 2020 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - Ultimately, The Falconeer is best when flying relaxingly around the environment. Appreciating its visuals can easily be the biggest selling point of the game. Though if you’re thinking of buying it, be aware of its flaws. The Falconeer is a visually pleasing game, but I can’t quite recommend it with its aerial combat being so lackluster.
Jarren Navarrete · Nov 23, 2020 Reviewed on PCRead full review - It needs more polish, more reason to keep playing, and more reliable controls to navigate its interesting setting in. I would love to revisit this world at some point, and I hope that the dev can find a way to keep me more engaged next time.
Bella Blondeau · Nov 20, 2020 Reviewed on Series X|SRead full review - Far more than the combat—whose charm ebbs away on a tide of repetition after the first few hours—the draw of The Falconeer is its suggestion that, while we may be shaped by our stories, they don’t pin us down, that the mere act of living is to take flight from the past.
