  • A collectible card game set in the Elder Scrolls universe? Count me intrigued. The Elder Scrolls: Legends is a high-quality digital collectible card game not unlike Hearthstone where we collect cards and setup decks to compete in singleplayer and multiplayer matches.

  • The Elder Scrolls: Legends is really good CCG that cleverly milks the Elder Scrolls universe and turns it into an entertaining card game. Legends feels quite different from Hearthstone both because of the Lane mechanics but also the two-attribute deck building that brings more variety to the game.

  • In theory, Heroes of Skyrim is a great expansion to the game: it presents new cards, new abilities, new Legendaries, and new strategies for players regardless of their preferred classes. However, the given options are so vast that it's easy to get lost in the mix, and newcomers — particularly those who are just now picking up The Elder Scrolls: Legends for mobile devices — might find themselves dropped so far into the deep end that they may never find their way out.

  • The Elder Scrolls: Legends Heroes of Skyrim is an enjoyable expansion that will sate fans of the game until the next set releases and provide some memorable, lore-infused moments along the way, but it does little to attract a new player who wasn’t already interested to check the game out.

  • I know that flashy effects aren't necessary for a game to be good, much less a CCG. But, when your card game–while good–doesn't look great and doesn't really bring much new stuff to the table, it's hard to be excited by it. Legends does a decent job of interpreting the the world and lore of The Elder Scrolls series into a competent card game, but, on a platform where there are tons of great CCGs, that's not enough.

  • It’s fair to wonder that if Hearthstone did not exist whether this particular title would exist in this form. Happily, that doesn’t matter now. If you’ve got the time and the storage to spare and love card battlers, or if for some reason it took The Elder Scrolls to finally drag you into this genre, you’re going to want to give this game a try and very well might find it your newest mobile addiction. Let’s hear it for iteration.

  • Elder Scrolls: Legends is a solid addition to the CCG lineup, and an excellent choice for those looking for something a little different. While the cards don’t really call out the feeling of exploring Morrowind or shouting at dragons, the game itself is solid enough to stand on its own.

The Elder Scrolls: Legends may not be the most visually appealing CCG, but what it lacks in looks it makes up for in modes, mechanics and card design. This is well worth checking out for fans of The Elder Scrolls or digital card games in general. And like all great CCGs, the more you put into it, the more you’ll get out of it.

  • A deep, and potentially rewarding alternative to Hearthstone that suffers from underwhelming art design and desperately needs an injection of players to grow the scene.
