- Despite a couple of performance issues, the intriguing story, good character design, and consequences to your actions mean that Little Hope remains a solid horror game for you to enjoy on Nintendo Switch this Halloween.
Kayleigh Partleton · Oct 12, 2023 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Overall I think Little Hope is just alright. I don’t think there’s anything special to be found here. The twist in the story has been done way better as well as the gameplay by the same studio from all accounts. I guess that the good news is that if like me this is your first Supermassive game it apparently only gets better from here.
Anthony Mann · Feb 02, 2021 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - While it doesn’t do anything new and even scales back its pure horror atmosphere, Little Hope greatly impresses in other ways with a more intriguing narrative and incredibly tense – and fun – interactive sequences. If you’re new to Supermassive’s games, this may be the best jumping-in point so far.
Pascal Tekaia · Nov 27, 2020 Reviewed on PC, PS4, XB1Read full review - The Dark Pictures Anthology – Little Hope is still a nice title to play, but it could have been so much more with some well-needed polishing. The game provides an interesting story, albeit a not so scary one. The atmosphere is properly set, but it lacks those finer details to make you sleep with one eye open after playing the game. The PC version could still need a few patches to improve the game’s running stability, as well as some tweaks to the control scheme.
Ibuki · Nov 14, 2020 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Little Hope shines a glimmer of hope despite being far from perfect. It has moments that make it stand out, and moments that will make you dislike it. If you care for storytelling, writing, and engagement, you will love this game for sure. Its gameplay is… not the best in its genre. It has clunky and broken moments, but it most certainly tries to be the best version it can be.
Rhett Roxl · Nov 12, 2020 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - The story ties together well regardless of player decisions, and there’s a great mix of character personalities. Friendlier QTEs and better character movement make the title an improvement over Man of Medan, and there are barely any technical issues. The Dark Pictures Anthology has a bright future ahead.
Rebecca Smith · Nov 10, 2020 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - Little Hope is a fun way to burn a couple of hours by yourself and a fantastic way to spend a night with friends but is let down by a disappointing conclusion, some uninspired performances, and general pacing issues.
Brad Lang · Nov 06, 2020 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - While it’s a step up from last year’s Man of Medan, Little Hope is a flawed second entry in Supermassive’s horror anthology series. Its gameplay is better than ever and the story has moments of gold, but this tale of witchcraft and horrifying demons can’t help but be overwhelmed by its lofty scope and frustrating narrative issues.
Callum Williams · Nov 06, 2020 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - It looks and sounds great, and the atmosphere and tension building is excellent. Sadly the all-important characters just didn’t quite resonate with me thanks to some sudden shifts in tone between sentences, and an overall feeling of disjointedness between scenes. Little Hope may not quite live up to Man of Medan then, but it’s still a passable bit of teen horror to fill up an evening or two.
Jamie Collyer · Nov 05, 2020 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - It’s a real shame that I was disappointed by Little Hope because otherwise it’s an impressive piece of audiovisual excellence and I just love its genre. If you like Charlie Kaufman’s movies (which I don’t), you may perhaps appreciate the ending better than I did. It remains a mystery why Supermassive Games have degenerated their interactive storytelling formula by restricting players’ influence over events.
