- Packed with some great modes, a proper online leaderboard, stat tracking, enough customization options to please almost any player, and the offer of true portability... this truly is the ultimate version of Tetris.
Kyle Wakeling · Jun 12, 2015 Reviewed on VitaRead full review - Tetris hasn’t changed much over the years, but it is always a sign that a generation has started when an iteration finally lands on that console. XB1 and PS4 owners finally have the classic puzzle game on their platforms, albeit with a lack of explanation on new features, and some online lag. Still this is Tetris, and those looking for that experience will not be disappointed.
Ken McKown · Jan 15, 2015 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - The music itself remains dull, but not without brief signs of life towards the end of games. The overall design’s blue look gets reflected in backing tracks and most of the menu’s navigation noises. It’s not as lively as the original Tetris Game Boy cartridge’s beeps and boops, though it’ll do if you like to try for a high score in-between other games.
Daniel Bischoff · Jan 06, 2015 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - Tetris Ultimate is a nostalgic trip down memory lane that feels too stale in the long run. The classic Tetris gameplay elements are here, but with so many releases over the years in this franchise, Ubisoft really could have tried to break new ground in more ways. The simplicity and accessibility of Tetris Live is much appreciated, including the ability to play against the Tetris Self of friends, while Co-Op is also a lot of fun to use.
Dean James · Dec 30, 2014 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - Framerate fluctuations render Tetris Ultimate almost unplayable, and while these issues only seem to occur when online, disconnecting tends to strip the title of much of its appeal. Assuming that it’s eventually patched, there’s a no-frills version of an all-time favourite here – but while the multiplayer is well integrated, the overall experience is far too ordinary to really recommend.
Sammy Barker · Dec 20, 2014 Reviewed on PS4Read full review - Part solid execution and part missed opportunity, Tetris Ultimate is hard to judge. If all you want is a good version of classic Tetris for your new console, this one will suit your needs well. The low price is nice and the gameplay options provided are a nice touch, but it doesn't do enough to earn the "ultimate" moniker.
Britton Peele · Dec 19, 2014 Reviewed on PS4, XB1Read full review - Tetris Ultimate provides you with Tetris on your Xbox One. That'll be enough to sell it to most people and the game works very well. The attempts at innovation on top of the base game are welcome for sure, but the package as a whole tends to feel a little bit bare-bones, despite the plethora of gameplay customisation options. This means that if you're one of the minority that didn't really get grabbed by the bug, then this will do little to change your mind. Tetris fiends should be prepared to be addicted all over again, though.
Ken Barnes · Jan 02, 2015 Reviewed on XB1Read full review - Tetris Ultimate is a package that brings a few of the more well-loved Tetris game modes into one tidy package. While it may not feature the same visual flare as some of the Tetris titles it borrows game modes from, there is enough here to make it worth recommending. The excellent multiplayer integration and classic gameplay that just never gets old will be enjoyed by those looking for another Tetris fix.
Jonny Lewis · Nov 27, 2014 Reviewed on 3DSRead full review - Tetris, a game which hasn’t really changed much in thirty years. The basic mechanics of the game remain unchanged, so I was floored that this new game was such a step backwards.
