  • Tekken 7 is a sweet reward for anyone who’s been following along for more than two decades, but it could do a lot more to onboard new fans — especially considering the uneven story and lack of a strong tutorial. Still, if you want to spend the time (and look for help on YouTube), Tekken 7’s unforgettable characters and fluid fights are worth the work.

  • Netherrealm Studios are doing a too good job for that with Mortal Kombat X and Injustice 2. However, given that in my childhood the Tekken series was omnipresent, it is my personal King of the Iron Fist. It is not completely understandable for me, why there was so little effort put into more varying game modes. I hope the explanation is not mainly to sell them via the upcoming DLCs. I don’t mind too much about the missed potential in the story mode though. As soon as the problems in the online modes are fixed, this will give me plenty of entertainment.

  • On the whole, Tekken 7 feels like a rebirth for the stalwart fighting franchise. This is a game that old players can pick up after a long absence while also providing everything that fighting aficionados expect from a Tekken game. From the huge population that has popped up everywhere (even Steam), you can see that the formula that shot the series to greatness before hasn’t been messed with.

Tekken 7 feels like the return for the series. After some bumps in the PS2 and PS3 era this series really feels like it is regaining its footing. There is a lot of content here for casuals and solo players, and the hardcore will love the under-the-hood changes.

  • The frenetic fighting and over-the-top fun of Tekken 7 is great, but it's let down by light offline modes and online matchmaking that, right now, simply isn't working well enough.

  • A worthy installment to the ‘Tekken’ series, this is one of the most entertaining fighters you’re likely to play all year, of which there will be many options. The customization and online play make 'Tekken 7' ideal to take up most of your summer.

  • It’s been well over two decades since Tekken first slammed its way into the collective conscious of the fighting game masses. And from start to finish, Tekken 7 feels like a celebration of the series’s storied history (hell, you can even use fight money to purchase every character and story cinematic that’s graced the series). If you’re a die-hard fan of the series, adding this gem to your collection is a no-brainer. If you’re a newcomer in search of some hot and heavy bare-knuckle action, there’s no better time to join the fight.

  • Tekken 7 is the first modern fighting game I've played that really seems to maintain the feel of the classics in its entirety. As much fun as the results of the genre's evolution has been, there's always going to be a place in the gaming collective for the classics, and Tekken 7 is fundamentally just that. It's nearly perfect as a core Tekken experience. The only thing that was truly disappointing was the lack of Tekken Ball.

  • If you’re a fighting game fan then, Tekken 7 is absolutely essential in my book. Sure, it doesn’t offer the same value for money as the recently released Injustice 2, but the combat feels better. It’s more technical and has a greater flow. If you’re a fan of the series, Tekken 7 will blow your bloody socks off. And if not, well, it’s still likely to impress if you give it the chance.

  • Tekken 7 makes the jump to the next generation of consoles capably, with an embarrassment of cosmetic riches and the series' classic fighting mechanics mainly intact.
