  • Although it sometimes falls victim to the constraints of its genre, Technobabylon more than makes up for it through sheer ambition. It's got a fascinating world that feels huge and far-reaching, a diverse set of interesting characters, and ingenious methods for shaking up traditional adventure game puzzle mechanics. It likely won't win over non-adventure game fans, but Technobabylon is an amazing game nonetheless.

  • Technobablyon is a very nice adventure game with only a few flaws – the graphics sometimes don’t quite work, the puzzles on a few occasions get away from logic, and the story has only a few points that make you frown on minor bits. However, it bears the trappings of its genre in many ways and that makes it a difficult game to score because if you aren’t interested in adventure games, if you don’t have patience, and you don’t want to experience a well-written narrative where you solve puzzles on the go, it isn’t something that will interest you.

  • Puzzles are, this being an adventure game, a big part of Technobabylon, and they’re mostly good—with a few exceptions. ...The worst are the ones that fall back on traditional point-and-click puzzle absurdity, combining items in ludicrous ways and so on. But mostly they’re logical, challenging, and satisfying to solve. ...Developer Technocrat has created a cyberpunk world that, while riffing on a dozen other examples of the genre, manages to have a personality of its own, populated by a cast of genuinely likeable characters.

  • While there is no shortage of choice when it comes to adventure games — especially on Steam — Technobabylon is not just another face in the crowd. Whether you’re a fan of exceptional adventure games, science fiction, or even its apparent influences, there is a memorable adventure in Technobabylon backed by a believable setting and driven by a strong narrative.

  • Regardless, I consistently enjoyed Technobabylon. The puzzles are always meaningful, and the story proves that you can teach the aging dog of cyberpunk some new tricks. ...And when a game can explore issues of sexuality and government surveillance while giving you a plausible reason to use a fishing pole at a crime scene, that's pretty all right.

  • Technobabylon's brilliantly absorbing world and frequently inspired puzzles make for a gripping - if unapologetically traditional - sci-fi adventure.

  • Technocrat knew exactly what it was doing when writing Technobabylon, using a lot of clever tools, both general and genre specific, to great use to craft a wonderful story with few lows, but many highs. The few lows it has are compensated for by very strong side characters that make players both laugh and further understand the world that keeps drawing them deeper and deeper in.

  • The story is smart, funny and intelligent, all the characters feel relatable despite being in a future world, and that world is well thought out and believable. I won’t blame Technobabylon for the developer’s choice of graphics engine, but sometimes it’s hard to see important things and that makes the pixel art less compelling and more frustrating. There’s a reason why the term “pixel-hunting” exists. Nevertheless, Technobabylon is a superb adventure game that you really should be playing right now.

  • Thoroughly enjoyable from start to finish, Technobabylon is a breath of fresh air in the world of point-and-click adventures. Perhaps a little too rough around the edges for some in terms of visuals, looking past this reveals a truly splendid core product filled to the brim with an emotive soundtrack, stellar voice work, a gripping and sometimes even disturbing storyline, as well as - imperatively - extremely smart puzzle construction.

  • Technobabylon may not make you a new convert to the retro-style adventure, but as a fan, it’s by far one of the best I’ve played. The character interaction and dialogue feel incredibly immersive, and the story, once it picked up, kept me captivated throughout. The puzzles hit that perfect blend of complexity and intuitiveness that keep them immensely satisfying. If you enjoy pixel art adventure, emotional story, and puzzles that really make you think, Technobabylon is a wonderful experience.
