- Tavern Talk is a wonderful window into a high-fantasy world that I never wanted to leave. Despite some repetitive gameplay, the unique tabletop spin on world-building and character interactions was an absolute delight.
Miguel Moran · Aug 19, 2024 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Tavern Talk is definitely the best next step in a line of cozy drinking talking simulators, as it tells a charming and gripping narrative that echoes the adventures found in the realm of magic and fantasy. It stands out on its own as a fun and heartwarming piece of D&D with its unique cast of characters and vast world-building and pairs well with great gameplay systems that add depth to its world but could use a bit of beefing up to break up the monotony.
Olivia Davies · Aug 17, 2024 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Tavern Talk delivers on the coziness front, with a relaxed attitude and plenty of interesting stories to engage with. All the characters have something unique, and the game does a good job of blending fantasy elements with classic themes. Actually, creating the potions isn’t very hard and I like how they influence the outcomes of quests. Anyone who loves stories and does not care too much about gameplay will have a good time, especially if they only play one or two in-game days at a time. But the title will struggle to attract players who might want more control over their potions and their effects. Tavern Talk isn’t interested in changing the narrative-driven coffee-making experience but understands what makes it tick.
Cosmin Vasile · Jul 30, 2024 Reviewed on PCRead full review - A cozy visual novel about running a tavern in a D&D-inspired fantasy! Gather rumors, serve magical drinks, and meet adventurers on a life-changing quest. Tavern Talk is comfy and satisfying with a few fun twists, but won't challenge your palette too much.
ELLIOT GOSTICK · Jul 12, 2024 Reviewed on PCRead full review - If you enjoy visual novels and games very similar to this like the Coffee Talk franchise, then this is absolutely for you. It’s a slow burn that doesn’t speed up or see you getting into scenarios you could describe as epic or turning points for a universe, though. This is a game for those who want a genuine answer from friends when they ask how they’re doing, a visual novel you can take your time with and leans much more into making you feel something instead of blasting you with impressive fights, fates, and fantastic visuals.
Jamie Moorcroft-Sharp · Jun 27, 2024 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Tavern Talk is sure to soothe your appetite - this talking sim with a drink-making minigame runs excellently on Switch, and introduces a delightful cast of vibrant characters that eagerly order menu items to match every taste. No matter your build, you're sure to savor this gem of an indie game.
Holly Alice · Jun 24, 2024 Reviewed on SwitchRead full review - Sometimes, you don't need to be the hero of the epic adventure. Sometimes, it can be more fulfilling to enable others to maximise their potential in your stead. Sometimes, the safety and security of your own four walls are the escape from your traumatic past that you needed. Buy another round, and I'll tell you that tale, too.
Ben Sledge · Jun 20, 2024 Reviewed on PCRead full review - I’ve yet to finish this game, yet I already dread when that moment arrives because it means our journey has ended, the story told. Despite being better for having experienced it, like when I finish any good book, I pine for its narrative long after reading.
Emma Flint · Jun 20, 2024 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Overall, I enjoyed my time spent in Tavern Talk. I found it slow, but I went into it knowing that it was more of a visual novel, so that was expected. The characters made up for the pace, and they got a few laughs out of me. Additionally, it’s heart-warming to see them interact with each other and build relationships. I could definitely see a tabletop campaign starting like this. And if these sound interesting to you, then I suggest giving Tavern Talk a try.
