- Tactics Ogre: Reborn is the best version of the game to play. It’s the best-looking and sounding version for sure. The soundtrack is especially a masterpiece. There’s also been plenty of tweaks and adjustments to the gameplay, all for the better in my opinion. It balances things out, adds new depth to minute-to-minute gameplay, and cuts down on grinding.

However, that one ends up being one of the most important as with poor balancing of difficulty with union levels and an overly inflated HP pool, it became an absolute chore to play early on in the experience and never quite recovered.

Adding many much-needed quality-of-life improvements and removing some of the more tedious mechanics have completely turned Tactics Ogre into a very enjoyable experience, despite its difficulty.

Qualify of life changes like rewind and simplified class changes are very welcome, but the newly balanced battle system slows down battles that already felt on the slow side.

Reborn offers up a new way to enjoy a legendary title and shows off just how perfectly crafted it was, to begin with. It’s a minor shame that the original game isn’t included here for historical purposes, but what we have here is largely the best way to play it outside of the filtered pixel art.
