- It's hard to resist the world of Benoît Sokal's Syberia: The World Before. With its sweeping vistas, well designed machinery and unique charm, it's a visual joy. This joy is backed up with sublime music and an irresistible dialogue and story that uses ample sarcasm. This, possibly last, entry to the series is a love letter to all that came before and a much-needed return to Syberia. Highly recommended to all lovers of adventure titles.
Sandy Kirchner-Wilson · Oct 19, 2023 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - World Before beautifully combines classic storytelling with the art of world storytelling, not to mention the intertwining tales of two characters from different eras in time. It’s like a book that takes you in many unique directions within the same story and it’s good fun.
Colin Mieczkowski · Dec 28, 2022 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - Despite a slow start and some persistent technical issues that are inexcusable, Syberia: The World Before is a fantastic narrative adventure that continues the series in spectacular fashion, and does Benoit Sokal’s legacy proud.
Shane Boyle · Dec 24, 2022 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - Syberia: The World Before is a remarkable adventure game that keeps its legacy adventure charm and is a worthy continuation of Ms. Walker’s story. It is a game that all of Microids and B. Sokal can, and should be, proud of.
Genghis Husameddin · Nov 14, 2022 Reviewed on Series X|SRead full review - Syberia: The World Before is a very good adventure game that also serves as a touching capstone to Sokal's career. Most of the puzzles follow a sensible, logical path that is fun to figure out without making you question the solutions. The story is very well told, but the ending is frustrating for those seeking closure. The title also features a gorgeous presentation, so adventure fans who don't mind open-ended narratives will be pleased.
Cody Medellin · Jun 06, 2022 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Syberia - The World Before is a captivating story of turmoil in the face of fashism. With compelling characters and fascinating logic puzzles, newcomers and returning players alike will have a blast with this adventure.
David Flynn · May 09, 2022 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Syberia: The World Before is a very mixed bag. With wonderful characters, terrific sights, and a beautiful story, there’s a lot to recommend about it. Unfortunately, that story relies far too much on happenstance, and the more you think about it, the less it makes sense, but if you can suspend your disbelief and just go with it, you’ll find a game that will please long term fans of the series and create some new fans as well.
Andrew Thornton · Apr 05, 2022 Reviewed on PCRead full review - The puzzles might not be as bizarre or outside the box as other games, but they also felt more natural to the story. Similarly, the other entries had more whimsical and fantastical elements to them, whereas this game is far more grounded in reality. Although, considering the laughably audacious directions Syberia 3 ventured into, I would definitely count this as a big plus. Syberia: The World Before might not be a perfect game, but I feel it’s the perfect send-off for the Kate Walker saga.
Heidi Hawes · Mar 30, 2022 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Syberia: The World Before is a wonderful return to form for Benoît Sokal’s venerable series. Beautiful, engaging, and moving, it’s the strongest chapter in Kate Walker’s journey yet.
Richard Hoover · Mar 29, 2022 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Syberia: The World Before is a significant next step in the franchise's storyline. Longtime fans will find both challenges and joy in this installment. But being this deep into the narrative means that it is no place for newcomers, even diehard point and click adventure fans.
