  • Bottom-line, if you enjoyed the prior Syberia games, you’ll enjoy part 3 as well. It offers some fun surprises, and I feel it’ll also prove to have some endurance and stick with me. Plot strengths can’t override the key technical issues though, so do wait for a needed patch and a sale if you’re on the fence.

  • It’s riddled with poor design choices and ugly visuals, but it’s is still a decent adventure game. It is a fitting conclusion to the Syberia saga, and due to that, I can only truly recommend this game to fans of the previous two games. They are most certainly better than this one, but fans will be able to have a good time with Syberia 3.

  • It seemed like a game with such promise and that it would somehow be something more than what it ultimately became. To say that I am disappointed is to understate things greatly. Let’s hope that Microids lets the Syberia IP go, or at least wait a good long while before making another one that is worthy of the first two games because Syberia 3 isn’t it.

  • What I wanted and what I played, however, were two different games. Kate Walker feels less like an action heroine and more like Lara Croft’s less exciting American cousin – while Lara is fighting off baddies and avoiding death’s cold embrace like it was her day job, Kate walks to an office. Then she walks to a getaway boat. Then she walks to a dam to stop it from contaminating the giant ostriches. And while not every game needs gore and violence to make it appealing, a little excitement and urgency could certainly spruce things up a bit for Syberia 3. In its current state, it’s simply too slow in every sense of the word with strange voice acting and tedious objectives. And as Eddie Izzard would say: “I can’t eat popcorn to this”.

  • The Syberia series is a product of its time, and Syberia 3 doesn’t bring back any excitement. It is plagued by bugs, a disappointing storyline, cliché characters, and puzzles that are more frustrating than fun. This return fails to do the series justice, feeling more like an unpolished and dated adventure game instead of a revival.

  • It took 13 years for Kate Walker to come back, but it might have been better for Syberia fans if she never did. Syberia 3 is a disappointing adventure game that retained nothing of the best features of the previous entries in the series, introducing so many changes that simply don't work as intended or are marred by poor design choices, making it a worthy purchase only for the most die-hard Kate Walker fans.

  • Syberia 3 feels unfinished. It is buggy and rough in almost every way. It fails to be immersive in spite of some honestly impressive world building simply because it offers too many distractions. All of this is extremely disappointing, because I really want to play more of it but I can’t force myself to finish it in its current state.

  • It’s not even terrible. I wish I could say it was! It’s just mediocre, violently and painfully so. After every puzzle, when a character would say, “There’s still a lot left to do!” I would actually become filled with existential dread. I can only say this: If the thought of spending three hours doing routine maintenance on a boat appeals to you, Syberia 3 might be the game to scratch that festering itch.

  • Not only for the player or the characters themselves – if ever they were capable of realising the technical mess they were a part of – but for developer Microids. So long have they been working on this game with an ambitious attitude hoping to satisfy long-time Syberia fans after an excruciating 13 year wait. There is a great adventure game here just begging to be broken out, however for now as Syberia 3 stands, Kate Walker’s story is one best left washed ashore.

  • This game feels like it should've come out over a decade ago, and even then, it still wouldn't have been ready for release. Some sprawling mechanical puzzles, an intriguing world, and a solid soundtrack can't save Syberia 3 from its disappointing delivery. Poor writing and even worse voice acting make its humdrum story a chore to chew through.

    About the game

The limitless imagination of Benoît Sokal continues in Syberia 3, focusing on an entirely new adventure. After abandoning the island, Kate is found dying on the edge of a river by the Youkole tribe, a nomadic people migrating with their snow ostriches. Stuck in Valsembor village, together they must find a way to continue their journey in a race against their enemies and unexpected obstacles, not to mention Kate's past, which catches up with her.
