  • I’m really enjoying the awesome smooth-running anime visuals as well as the exciting soundtrack that will keep you pumped as you play through the game, and don’t expect a difficult time either, as the basic controls are easy to get into. This game not only requires an initial game data download, it’ll require even more downloads just to get started, meaning it’ll take time just to start playing, and once you’re in, you won’t find anything truly new nor inventive here, sticking far too close to the action RPG formula.

  • All told, it’s the kind of package that can easily keep you coming back for more if you venture down this particular mobile rabbit hole. Give the scope of SAO in general, it only make sense for Sword Art Online: Memory Defrag to be a sprawling, almost intimidating affair, but happily, it’s fun enough to be enjoyable even if the story makes your head hurt a little.

  • If UI polish met the gameplay, this would be a stand out 9 out of 10. But unless the game gets better in terms of character progression and monetisation, it’s a struggle to justify spending money on it. Regardless it’s free, doesn’t have a stamina meter and fun. As noted, this does play smoothly on an old iPhone 5s.

  • If you're a Sword Art Online fan, and a fan of the genre as a whole, then it's definitely worth a try. For everyone else, it's not going to be the game to sway you. It's nothing new, but Sword Art Online: Memory Defrag is a solid, enjoyable hack-and-slash RPG for the anime fans.

Control them freely with just one finger as you take down a range of powerful enemies and unleash various skills. Defeat enemies and complete each stage to progress through the game! In addition, you can ally yourself with friends or other users to defeat a number of huge and powerful bosses in multiplayer co-op mode.
