- I'll say this: few live-service titles can dare to match Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League in sheer mismanagement. From the stultifying design soullessly churned from an assembly line, to weird mechanical foibles that drag down what's nothing more than a middling shooter in principle, it's almost like one major corporate-driven decision damaged this concept in ways that can't be reconciled. All of which is poisoned further by a clichéd story littered with loathsome dialogue and misguided character moments. Yet it's also insane to think how much money was obviously shovelled into this. Whether it's impressive draw distances, detailed cutscenes, or decent post-launch polish, it's wild to think how many fundamental issues there are which can’t be blamed on a rushed release. Ironically, Rocksteady lived long enough to see itself become the villain.
Lee Mehr · Mar 05, 2024 Reviewed on Series X|SRead full review - Overall, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is trying its hardest, but it comes off as a messy science project dressed up to look pretty, and we all know it doesn’t really do what it needs to. Sadly, a lot more polish is needed if there’s going to be hope of this release lasting longer than a year as a live-service title because, as we all know, they’re usually driven by the fans and a constant stream of income from microtransactions… Though there’s already a scarcity of pre-teens with a ton of money to burn, only time will tell.
R3GR3T · Feb 22, 2024 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - In some respects, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League – a live-service loot shooter with a roster of subs-bench-calibre antiheroes – is actually better than it has any right to be. In parts, it's almost good. But for a superhero game from Rocksteady, the masters of the genre, and a descendant of the mighty Arkham series to boot? It's also a disappointing sign of the times, of corporate overlords still chasing live-service trends, even in the wake of high-profile fumbles like Anthem and Marvel's Avengers.
Josh Wise · Feb 21, 2024 Reviewed on PC, PS5, Series X|SRead full review - Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League falls way short of reinventing the superhero game genre, feeding more into the live service pitfalls and troupes. Its stunning visuals, voice-acting, and soundscape ends up being overshadowed by repetitive missions, insane amounts of visual and audio clutter, and a Metropolis void of any personality or substance. The game is playable, but it’s a far cry of what Rocksteady is truly capable of. One can only hope the studio brings more kinks and turns to the game in seasons to come.
Yong Le · Feb 16, 2024 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - A repetitive and dull gameplay loop that’s thematically allergic to the game’s cast of misfits only begins to describe how heartbreakingly disappointing Kill the Justice League truly is. Rocksteady should’ve died a hero, instead, it’s lived long enough to see itself become the villain.
Adam Ryan · Feb 15, 2024 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - Unfortunately, I have to consider the entire game while I review Suicide Squad. Its incredible storytelling should cause you to give it a chance, but don’t be ignorant of its matchmaking issues, the highly repetitive nature of the campaign missions, or the fact that the end of the game comes off as super confusing. It may be worth waiting for a sale for anyone other than the most dedicated DC fans out there. Suicide Squad had great potential, but for me, it ultimately fell short.
Mike BC · Feb 15, 2024 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - Overall, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League featured some of the best third-person shooting gameplay in recent years. But paired with a lackluster story and draining live service elements, it failed to hit any of the marks expected by such a high-profile IP and developer. With really crisp audio design and some memorable moments thanks to boss fights and creative story moments, Suicide Squad didn’t fall flat, and based on player counts, it looks to be sticking around. At least for one season.
Brandon Farris · Feb 15, 2024 Reviewed on PCRead full review - As someone who enjoys the high level of frantic chaos that Suicide Squad specializes in, and the ways it encourages you to try different characters and builds, it’s easy for me to look forward to additional content, but for the average player to be able to overcome the same repetitive structure featured in every other game of this ilk, the developers will have to unleash the same creativity they mustered for the movement on the mission design moving forward.
Dan Lenois · Feb 14, 2024 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Al final, Suicide Squad hace honor a su nombre y se embarca en una misión imposible: triunfar en un mercado saturado con experiencias parecidas y mucho mejores.
Ulises Contreras · Feb 14, 2024 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - Taken individually there are some aspects to Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League that are enjoyable. The problem is that cloning the same few basic gameplay mechanics seen in most live service games creates a negative overall experience. As a result, even if playing alongside your friends as a full party, you will feel like participating in a chores marathon. The monotonous endgame can be fixed by adding new content, but seeing the already existing one it is hard to believe that we can expect a major improvement. It is a shame that such a fresh and unexpected take on the superhero universe is wasted on a live service model that fails to fix the mistakes of the genre.
