  • Starlight Inception is a good space combat game that is often held back by a number of annoying bugs. The first update was able to correct a number of the game's flaws, but it didn't go far enough to fix them all.

  • Starlight Inception is a hot mess. Not only does it feature more bugs than a faraway foreign planet, but it’s also disappointingly dull to play. Poor pacing, atrocious graphics, and shoddy controls mean that this space sim barely manages to get off the ground. Factor in its £12.99/$19.99 price point, and this is little more than an intergalactic insult.

Though Starlight Inception shoots the moon, it never actually achieves orbit. Despite the developers’ attempt to create a deep, story-driven experience, frustrating design decisions and technical inadequacies overshadow the competent but uninventive mechanics. The space sim genre will continue to rocket skyward, but Starlight, sadly, won’t be along for the ride.

  • Part of me really wanted to like Starlight Inception, and to some extent I did. Space combat is fun for a while, but that's cold comfort when every other aspect of the game is apparently trying to hamper your enjoyment.

  • Für ein Spiel dieses Genres besonders problematisch ist dann auch die Tatsache, dass die Weltraumkämpfe nicht wirklich interessant ausfallen.
