  • I know that I’ve had a lot of negative things to say about Starfield, but the fact of the matter is that there is so much to enjoy despite these flaws. The amount of content completely astounds me at times; I don’t think I'll ever run out of things to do in Starfield. In fact, it's one of those games I may keep permanently installed onto my PC just to jump back in and play for a few hours every now and again.

  • Ultimately, Starfield is a very enjoyable game that takes the overall formula that Bethesda established in games like Skyrim and Fallout 4 and expands upon it. It is familiar in the ways that feel comfortable, but the game feels like an exciting new experience. It's unfair to compare it to games like No Man's Sky given the vast difference in scope, but at the same time, I wish that the ways the ships are handled didn't feel so compartmentalized with the reliance upon menu-driven fast-travel. Starfield really tries to be many things all at once, and although there are varying levels of success to that end, the game is a downright joy to play.

  • Starfield shines through some glaring issues that definitely dampen the experience but don’t ruin it altogether. With plenty to see and do, sheer immersion will be enough to carry you through to the end of Bethesda’s latest offering.

  • Starfield is truly impressive, and when it allows you to breathe and live out your fate in the stars, it’s a consistently compelling journey. However, the main story and the central mystery act as a black hole, threatening, but never quite succeeding to drag it down into complete oblivion.

  • Starfield for me is very easily the game of the year, it would take something phenomenal to knock it off the top. Is it perfect? Not by any means, there are bugs and exploits to see but you have to go out of your way to do so, albeit to the detriment of your own experience. I think calling it Fallout in Space with Mass Effect tones and elements of No Man’s Sky is a cheap description.

  • The problem is the more time you invest, the more procedurally generated content you experience, and the less rewarding the experience becomes. On top of that, the basic gameplay inevitably becomes repetitive and the segmented world structure makes exploring the galaxy feel like navigating an unwieldy GPS app instead of an epic adventure.

  • There is no defined way of playing Starfield, and you can pretty much tackle every part of the game in a manner that suits your playstyle. Sadly, what could have been a contender for ”game of the year”, ultimately gets held back by an uncountable number of bugs and a very dated engine. Even so, we can easily recommend the game for space exploration enthusiasts and fans of other titles such as Fallout 4 and Skyrim.

  • The visuals might not be too great, but with far too many great things Starfield has to offer, it’s not to be all and end all. Thankfully, almost a decade of hard work didn’t go in vain. Fantastic job, Bethesda.

  • Overall, Starfield is fine. It's a Frankenstein's monster of other sci-fi games and references, and it doesn't do any of those things better than existing products. The battle? Cyberpunk 2077 is smoother. Mining and geological exploration? This is all No Man's Sky. Controlling the ship? FTL still reigns. RPG story? Can't compare to Outer Worlds. But even after all this, the game is good and will keep players engaged for a long, long while.

  • It is a game you will easily be able to spend hundreds, maybe thousands of hours into, and just complete a tenth of everything it has to offer. It can be a swashbuckling adventure, the next big space RPG since The Outer Worlds, a space trading simulator, or even a straightforward relaxing exploratory experience to play while listening to a podcast. The decision is yours. Welcome to space. Enjoy your stay.
