  Graphically speaking, Spellforce is just middle of the road. Not an ugly game, but not at the level of graphics that we are seeing at this point in the next gen cycle; but this is a remaster of a game that came out in 2017 so there is that.

  Overall, Spellforce 3 Reforced is a fun RTS/RPG hybrid with a very compelling story. The individual gameplay components work well, although more narrative fluidity when focusing on RTS moments could have made Spellforce 3 Reforced a must-play. Nonetheless, fans of both RTS and RPG genres will find something to love here.

  Spellforce 3: Reforced is a rare example of a genre mashup that makes sense. The two genres actually complement each other and come together to create a unique and enjoyable hybrid. Its story and setting are pretty over-reliant on well-worn high fantasy elements, but there’s more to the game than the main campaign. Controls on console work about as well as possible, given all the moving pieces inherited from the PC version. Fans of strategy and roleplaying games should find common ground in Spellforce 3: Reforced.

  SpellForce 3 Reforced is an amazing game to get on console – if you cannot get it on PC, or simply really prefer gaming on a console. This RPG and RTS hybrid experience just works perfectly, and we enjoyed playing through the original campaign, as well as the other modes. The only downside to getting the console version of this one is that the controls are just not that pleasant. That being said, the developers put in a lot of effort to make this grand-scale adventure playable on consoles, so it’s certainly still worth looking into.

  The solid story, good graphics, and decent amount of content make SpellForce 3 Reforced a reasonably good time if you can put up with the side effects of it being forced into a console experience.

  While the campaign story is good and understandable it is easy to become overwhelmed by the forced dialogue and the RTS gameplay is intuitive but it can take a while to take it all in and program your hands to use the radial wheels efficiently. Overall I recommend Spellforce III : Reforced as a fan of RTS and ARPGs.

  Way Too Many Games

  It just fundamentally doesn’t work. I would struggle to order one group to attack an enemy during battles, and by the time I did, the rest of my army had been massacred by everyone else. I’ve never been so frustrated with a game before. And this was just on normal difficulty, the idea of people playing this on harder ones is absolutely laughable. So in summary, avoid this port. Play King’s Bounty II instead.

  While Spellforce 3 is an uneven experience, it hits all the right notes. The storyline is great, the visuals are stunning, and the basic gameplay is good enough to keep your attention. Overall, if you are an RTS fan desperately looking for a new fantasy-based experience, you should feel right at home here. If you are not a desperate fantasy RTS fan but you are still interested, then at least keep this on your radar.

  In the short term, if you're willing to think of the prefab fantasy setting as comfortingly familiar, Spellforce 3 is a pretty fun. The voice acting is terrific, and the plot easy to understand without requiring weeks of learning why THESE giant wolves are different to other games' giant wolves. Whether this familiarity is a brave counterpoint to the endless setting creep of gaming is really a matter of personal taste.
