  • Space Run's successes are enough to make it fun—a mildly-tactical blend of RTS and action that's neither a great tower defense game nor a great space combat game. It appears deeper than it is, emphasizing the perfection-by-memorization of a platformer over the experimentation of an RTS, but that makes it something I haven't quite experienced before.

  • Admittedly Space Run is very much a game that will appeal to a very particular breed of gamers, but if you like to be made to think, to plan and to execute in videogames then Space Run gives you a fairly novel way of doing just that.

  • Space Run shines from the depths of space, from the challenging gameplay to the deep strategy mechanics. I looked forward to every cutscene with glee, whether it featured Buck Mann talking terms with an employer, or had me trading fightin' words with pirates. There isn't much to gripe about, except that spoken words and the text in chat bubbles don't always match, and there is an occasional misspelled word, but that is just nitpicking.

  • Space Run really is a thoroughly enjoyable game with rewarding level completion, just the right amount of humour and enough variety in missions to keep you going until men land on Mars.

  • Sure, I had some very frantic moments where I watched entire wings of my ship get obliterated by an asteroid shower because I couldn’t reorient my laser cannons quick enough; but these moments aside, things become very familiar, very quickly, to the point where they are almost tiresome. And the less said about the protagonist, the better. By paying such homage to the 80s classics which inspired it - even in an age where ‘retro’ interpretations are ala mode - Space Run feels a bit dated.

About the game

Space can be a dangerous place. You’re one of the most daring «Space Transporters», people who carry the dangerous task of transporting valuable shipments from one place to another across hazardous space. This supposedly simple task gets tricky once you add dense asteroid fields that regularly cross the space lanes, the armed-to-the-teeth pirate starfighters and spaceships all too willing to shred your ship for your cargo, as well as the other Space Transporters you are competing against!
