- While we fairly enjoyed hacking and slashing our way through what Soulstice had to offer, we couldn’t help but shake that ‘jack of all trades, master of none” feeling. The game tries to incorporate many elements of other bigger titles in its package and because of this we ended up constantly comparing Soulstice to these other titles.
Ibuki · Oct 15, 2022 Reviewed on PS5Read full review - Replayability is encouraged with various difficulty options, though I’m unlikely to play through it again. I would, however, love to experience the rest of the Holy Kingdom of Keidas in a sequel to Soulstice! This game is a good first step, but it will be up to future entries to refine the experience into the series it could become.
Anthony Krolikowski · Oct 14, 2022 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Overall, Soulstice daringly makes the plunge into several genres and subgenres simultaneously, and ultimately comes away, predictably, as competent enough in most areas, but exceptional in none.
Dan Lenois · Oct 04, 2022 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Soulstice has great old school vibes but it may fall short of what it was trying to achieve. It can be frustrating at times and after a while I found it more frustrating than fun. For those who love DMC/Bayonetta, I’d definitely say give it a go, but beware that you will be sinking hours into the game.
Ian Wray · Sep 30, 2022 Reviewed on Series X|SRead full review - A well-made game that does its best but nonetheless falls far below the genre's best. Since there have been fewer new entries in recent years, there's no harm in giving it a try if you're a fan of this genre.
Azfar Rayan · Sep 26, 2022 Reviewed on Series X|SRead full review - From a purely visual standpoint Soulstice feels as uneven as the game play at times. Some of the enemy designs are absolutely stellar. I love the look of some of the larger ones and the main character is cool. However, there are just as many bland designs sprinkled along the way. Environments are also a tale of two worlds. Sometimes it has some great architecture that stand out, gorgeous fire effects, and all of it devoid of any color and lacking at times. It feels all over the place. Thankfully the voice acting is solid even if a bit campy and the music sets the tone.
Ken McKown · Sep 23, 2022 Reviewed on Series X|SRead full review - Soulstice similarly has some good ideas—Lute does much to disturb the sacred formula of DMC-style games—but is similarly rough around the edges, with a yoyo-ing camera that constantly undermines the game.
Tom Sykes · Sep 23, 2022 Reviewed on PCRead full review - The setting and story, even with its strong pair of main characters, are largely just a bland backdrop for its generally competent and challenging hack-and-slash battles against some deviously fun and interesting enemies. So long as you have the stomach and willpower to trudge back and forth through its tedious, linear levels and wrangle its unruly camera in the midsts of colorful, screen-filling chaos, those fights are the light at the end of the tunnel.
Jarrett Green · Sep 21, 2022 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Soulstice is a completely serviceable action title that contains plenty of thrills and some stellar combat, even if its story and presentation fail to rise above its inspirations. Nothing about Soulstice will redefine the character-action genre, but if you're hungry for a deep and challenging experience, it should fit that need nicely.
Hayes Madsen · Sep 20, 2022 Reviewed on PCRead full review - Soulstice is a hack and slash game from Reply Game Studios and Modus Games. Take on the role of Briar and her ethereal sister, Lute, as you fight tons of demons by utilizing the strengths of both.
